I think people need to keep in mind that this is a very small sample size, you can't really draw any conclusions from it.
Qvist, you mentioned that you would later add more samples/do something else that's really awesome?
I'd be willing to create a list if you do.
Anyway, my favorite expansions:
1. Seaside
2. Intrigue
3. Cornucopia
4. Dominion
5. Prosperity
6. Alchemy
7. Hinterlands

It's kind of funny that , according to CouncilRoom, Alchemy and Hinterlands are also the sets I play best with.

Edit: Oh, I hate all of the Promo cards.

You guessed it!

I too received no entries.
Probably my challenge was too boring.

Anyway here's my idea on how the solo challenge board should work:

I think, that for this to actually be successful, there can only be one solo challenge at a time, perhaps with a week-long deadline.
So obviously, this board would need to be more heavily moderated.

So, somebody would make a solo challenge, and they send it to somebody for critiquing, and then they post it.
Then the winner of the challenge gets to make the next one, or, alternatively let someone else do it.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for the games yuma.
I think, (as you're probably tired of hearing) that I need to work on not breaking PPR.

For some reason, I find it fun.

Game Reports / Why Tournament should be hated...maybe
« on: June 13, 2012, 09:18:04 pm »
I go for an IGG rush, my opponent goes for tournaments.

I win the first prize.

The reason that this is a maybe is that, well, maybe it's not so much that tournament is swingy but that I was absurdly lucky.

What do you mean by without changing the state of your deck?
Do you mean that you can't draw any cards?
If so, you don't even need a three dollar card.
By virtue of haven/native village, your hand contains six fool's golds and two pawns. Play pawns for +Buy; Buy stuff.

Native village can do anything.

Whoops, I meant Accurst, not Blasphemy.

And my problem with hourglass, is, like you say, the player with few terminals will not benefit from it, but they can just buy it anyway half the time because it only costs one more than silver.
Then, every 10 turns, they get lucky and do benefit.
I think Donald X. mentioned something about $4 silver variants somewhere.

1058
Nice revisions.

I still think hourglass should cost five, but it's your set and it could really go either way.
Misfit also seems a tad powerful in BM strategies, probably beats BM-Smithy by a good bit.
Other than that, it al looks pretty good based on by quick read-through.
Turncoat is much easier to understand, although I have no clue whether it's good or not, I'm going to assume it's fine and you've play tested.
On galvanize, if a supply pile is empty, can you choose to galvanize that card?
If the answer is no, galvanize gets trickier to use well, which I like. If you're market-spamming with a galvanize added in, then your opponent can counter easily by buying the last few markets. Neat.

The Baldachin Q's and A's are switched.
For Blasphemy, maybe you should just write in that the Blasphemy pile should be added and put more info in the FAQ to save space.

This is a very nice set, I think; excellent revisions.

Asylum
Action - $6
Trash any number of cards from your hand.
For each card trashed:
+1 card, +1 action, +$1, +1 buy.

The sad thing is, I actually play with this card sometimes.
It's funniest in goons engines.

If it's gotten to the point that I would buy estates, with $2, I would buy the farmland.
Otherwise, the duchy.

Edit: Reading what Lekkit said, I clearly wasn't thinking straight.
I'll now always buy farmland in this situation.

I just did this in a live game with throne rooms, gained/bought like six feasts in one turn to end on piles.

Going for just gold here:
Your deck contains 8 tunnels, nothing else.

Oppenent plays scrying pool.
Highway 5x.
Ironworks gaining sab, vault, governor, swindler.
Throne room KC chain for twenty triples; nine doubles.
vault, vault, gain nine gold.
governor cards x2
vault x2: 8 gold.
Sab x1 24 gold.
gov/vault again 8 gold.
saboteur x9 216 gold.
onto thrones
jester x9 jester gold into more gold. 18 gold.
jester again 1 gold.
gov x4 vault x4 4 gold.
gov gov remodel tunnel to gold.

289 gold.

Probably full of errors, I'll edit later.]

Well, you have the right idea, but, well, I'd just like to point out a few cards on this list, maybe it's my mistake:
Workshop
Festival
...
Gold

Nobody has any ideas?
Today's hint: It might be a good idea to look at all of the cards from, say, Prosperity, by themselves.

Puzzles and Challenges / Heron's Puzzles: 1
« on: June 09, 2012, 07:33:35 pm »
Alright, I realize that this isn't the first puzzle I've posted here. But this is the first one with a number attached.

Anyway, I'm planning to post a series of progressively more difficult puzzles across similar themes, about one per week.
Because the puzzles will get rather difficult eventually, I will post one hint per day.

I'm going to start off with a simple what's missing:

Contraband
Workshop
Mountebank
Festival
Tournament
Gold
King's Court
Swindler
Embargo
Saboteur
Lookout
Torturer
Caravan
Trade Route
Outpost

Hint 1: Honorable mention goes to Envoy, Stash, and Province
Hint 2: This is based on card text, not mechanics.
Hint 3: It might be a good idea to look at all of the cards from, say, Prosperity, by themselves.

No, Bob can only top deck 4 cards— the second scheme isn't KC'd.

Two confusion is actually worse than militia; you don't get to choose what to discard.
Also, it's a tad more similar to ghost ship, I suppose.

Oh, yay!
I guess I'll go buy some, then, after making sure my friend doesn't have them.
