Posting from iPhone and busy with family for the next several hours. I'll be reading but probably not posting anything terribly long until much later, but checking in now to say two things:

1) this has already been said, but I'll go ahead and reiterate: no-lynch seems to me like a really bad idea. With only a couple power roles, all no-lynch does is give the mafia a chance for a head start. And, as Young Nick already stated, if it becomes necessary, a power role can always claim. Not the best situation, but much better than killing them off.

2) I agree with Eevee that timchen's posts seem a bit off, but this early, that doesn't necessarily mean much. Early voting may be good to get conversation going, but I'm really wary of trusting initial reads.

I started following Mafia right at the beginning of Mafia III, and I followed III and IV really closely. I went back and read a little of I and II, but I'll admit I didn't get all the way through either of them. I'm following Role Madness right now and super excited to finally be playing!

Yeah I remember thinking right after I bought the second tac in game #2 that that was a mistake. I just figured it would be one I could recover from relatively easily :/

So yesterday I played this game:

and realized really early on that this would be a really great double-tac board. I ended up losing right at the very end. I think maybe it was a mistake to buy the penultimate province, even though I was ahead, because that let my opponent buy the last one and a duchy to win.

Aaaaaaaanyway, after that game, I wanted to try the same strategy again, so I required HP, Spice Merchant, Lighthouse, and Tactician and started a new game.

 I got the strategy off to a really quick start, and my opponent didn't seem to have much of a strategy at all, and yet he still won. Does Caravan/Lighthouse/Money really have an advantage over Lighthouse/HP/Double-Tac? Or was that just a fluke? I think maybe I should have bought a couple more Lighthouses and ignored the Spice Merchant, but other than that I'm reaaaally not sure how Lighthouse/HP/Double-Tac doesn't have a clear advantage on this board.

Any chance of a small-ish game starting up any time soon? I'd like to play, but I don't really have the time to devote to reading/analyzing something with as many pages as Mafia IV. Not sure if there's much interest in a smaller game, but if there is, I'm in.

This was a really interesting set with good engine potential, but I don't think I played it very well. In retrospect, I think I probably ought to have opened crossroads/YW and bought a few more Islands. Thoughts?

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now, so I figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself and stop creepin'.
I started playing Dominion IRL in about January. My friends and I have Original Dominion, Prosperity, and Intrigue, and we played pretty much every day for most of the semester. Started playing on Iso in March when we weren't all at school anymore, and got slightly addicted.  :P I started following the Mafia games on here and decided to finally stop lurking, so hi!
