Awww, but then you have to play IRL Dominion!  Which is some weird card-based implementation of an amazing computer game :)

Dominion LAN party?

I take it you're a fan of engines?  :P

You know, I'm actually not a fan of engines. This lends itself to my suspicion that I don't really understand this game.

I just like cycling away useless cards. Maybe remove Fishing Village from that list and add in Courtyard.

Every single one of these makes me think that 2v2 Dominion would be very, very interesting to try...

Would you have teammates sit opposite each other or adjacent? I think both have interesting strategic considerations.

Hi everyone,

I'm a high school math teacher (algebra and statistics) in New York City. I've been playing on isotropic since December and have been lurking here for almost the same amount of time. Most of my development as a player has come from reading posts in this forum. The rest is due to dumb luck and lots of trial and error.

Even at my current level (32), I still feel sometimes like I know absolutely nothing about this game, and I'm just clicking buttons at random.

Cards I like:

1. Fishing Village
2. Warehouse
3. Oasis

I live in Manhattan. I'd love to meet some other people who play heavily on isotropic.

There's a gaming shop I only recently discovered in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, called Twenty Sided Store. It's a 3 minute walk from the Lorimer St. stop on the L. The store has board game nights every Thursday. They have a number of games open and freely available for anyone to pick up and play, but they only have the base set of Dominion.

What if we tried to organize a meet-up at Twenty Sided Store during one of their board game nights where we each bring an expansion (or better yet, our own pre-designed kingdoms)?

Complaining about losing because your opponent was irrational feels like poker players complaining about losing a pot because someone didn't fold their gutshot straight draw on the flop "as they should have".

I would offer that collusion only becomes a serious competitive issue if Dominion tournaments were high stakes, if a large amount of money was on the line. Then there would be definite incentive for players to collude in the hopes of increasing their chances of splitting a large prize. At the moment, it is merely an issue of how much fun it is to play against someone who is trying more to screw you over rather than winning outright.
