Do you have a top 10 cards you most enjoy playing with (similar to the new "Cards You Like" feature online)?

$3 - Action - Reaction

+1 Action
Look at the top card of your deck. Draw it, or trash it and draw a card.
--
When you gain a card, you may reveal this from your hand, to put that card onto your deck.

Am I missing something, because this seems like it's strictly better than a Lab? Guaranteed to draw two cards, +1 Action, and the option to trash one of those cards along with a top-decking reaction.

Swashbuckler and Guild Hall

Guild Hall provides and alternative way to earn coffers so you can get the Treasure Chest on an early play of Swashbuckler. Then each Gold you get from Treasure Chest earns you a coffer.

Similarly, I had Beggar, Monastery, and Guild Hall which was nuts. Play the 3 Coppers you gained, earn 3 Coffers, and then trash the 3 Coppers.

5
Tragic Hero and Aqueduct

Managed to squeeze out a win over a tie by blowing up my Tragic Hero, gain a Gold to move a VP to Aqueduct and buy the last Province.

Where does Necromancer fall in all of this? It's similar in functionality in that it plays cards from the trash rather than from the supply. Would it gain the Command type or will that be reserved for cards that play from the supply (and thus you don't have to bother errata-ing Necromancer too since there is no other reason for play)?

Transmogrify & Treasure Map

Don't want to junk your deck on the oft chance your Treasure Maps will collide? Grab a couple of Transmogrifys instead and turn those initial starting silvers into treasure!

I like this a lot but with cost reduction you can empty the entire pile at no cost (even without cost reduction you could argue that 3 or 4 Cottages are better than 1 village in a thin enough deck). So perhaps the on-gain Buy option has to go.

Perhaps add a Messenger-esque clause?
When this is the first Cottage you gained this turn, choose one: ...

Shouldn't "Rush" be included on this list? It's listed as one of the 5 main deck archetypes throughout the wiki (and you've already included the others).

For Gravedigger: What happens to the card from the top of my deck that I am looking at if I decide to not trash it? Does it get discarded, go back on top of my deck along with a card from my hand, or into my hand and then I place a card onto my deck?

Ok great, so I wasn't going crazy rereading the cards and wondering how in the world it would allow that.

Rules Questions / Crossroads & Citadel
« on: February 05, 2019, 02:00:15 am »
I was just playing online against LR and had purchased Citadel. Subsequently, when I would play Crossroads as my first card I got +6 actions. Why is that? The Crossroads rules FAQ says that throning a Crossroads will only give +3 actions (for the first time you play it), but you play it a second time and thus it is no longer the first time you've played Crossroads. Shouldn't Citadel behave similarly?

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Werewolf without Hexes
« on: January 10, 2019, 02:22:40 am »
Werewolf (Variant)
Action-Night-Attack
$5
If it's your Night phase, each other player with at least 4 cards in hand puts one of them onto their deck. Otherwise, +3 Cards.

But the fact that you can keep hexing your opponents with each Werewolf is a lot of the draw of making it a night card since there is no limit on how many you can play.

What if you went the Idol route to keep the mixing up of negative effects?

Werewolf (Variant)
Action-Night-Attack
$5
When you play this in your Night phase, if you have an odd number of Werewolves in play each other player gains a Copper; if an even number, each other player gains a Curse. Otherwise, +3 Cards.

That one is a bit wordy, but you get the idea.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Why is Possession hated so much?
« on: January 04, 2019, 05:12:55 pm »
I have always wondered this, but why doesn't Possession limit itself to once per turn similar to Outpost? Similarly, unable to play Possession during a possessed turn? My guess is space availability on the card since there is so much more explaining to do and it's at a limit already.
Sure if you couldn't play two in a turn the card would be some amount less of a problem, but as usual the real fix is to not do Possession.

That's unfortunately an unsatisfactory answer, but I understand. Was there any thought about limiting it for the 2nd edition of Alchemy (a la Masquerade's major change), or was that going to be too dramatic of a change?

Also, while I understand the logic to it not being an Attack, would giving it an Attack type help make it less dominating in games since you could use Moat/Lighthouse/Guardian etc?
Making it an attack doesn't work at all. It's too big of an effect for you, the person playing it, to let it sometimes be shut off by your opponents; if I had felt it had to be an attack back when, I would have successfully not made the card.

Ahh...yeah that makes total sense. It's a very expensive card and turning them into a completely useless card for your turn would be terrible and probably not worth the risk of even buying a Possession.

I guess limiting Possession to once per turn would help a bit, but I don't think it's enough to save the card.

Sculptor->Ducat could be pretty good.

Seer/Ducat was pretty fun to play.

Sacrifice/Silk Merchant was also a fun synergy.

I was just browsing through the Interview thread and found this from a few years back:

No guarantees that Gathering cards will ever appear outside of Empires, but should they remain strictly tied to VP?  Gathering with coin tokens seems like an obvious thing that could work.
For me Gathering cards want to be things that Defiled Shrine is specifically dodging putting tokens on. So, cards that put VP tokens on their pile. "Gathering with coin tokens" runs into the problem of interacting with Trade Route, but that aside, would get a different type if it happened.

Perhaps renaming coin tokens to Coffers gets around this and we can see gathering with Coffers in Renaissance?
