I haven’t tested it out yet, but
Lost Arts/Inventor
Lost Arts mitigates the main drawback of Inventor: it being terminal. That way, you can get crazy turns where you can gain and play a bunch of Inventors without needing an exorbitant amount of village support.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Why Peasant Will Be On My Ban List

What about Page? It’s at least as centralizing as Peasant, and at least in my experience, makes for less interesting games. Page has more autoplay than Peasant, while having the same degree of reliance on shuffle luck. Just my two cents.

So Inventor is stronger than Bridge because it's more versatile? For example, in a kingdom with no villages, I'd be more likely to pick up Inventor than Bridge because at least Inventor is a Workshop in that scenario.

Inventor is probably my favorite card in all of Dominion.
  • How does this compare to Bridge?
  • Should it be used as a gainer or a megaturn enabler?
  • How does it compare to other Workshop variants?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Engine Building Help
« on: November 07, 2018, 09:48:19 am »
I don't have a log, but I do remember there being the following cards:
Old Witch
Plaza
Catacombs
Villain
Treasurer
Improve
Silk Merchant

The strategy both of us were using was something along the lines of Plaza/Catacombs engine with Old Witch and Treasurer as payload, and using Improve on Silk Merchants to get extra mileage out of the Silk Merchants.

During the last few turns of the game, my opponent's engine was sufficiently built so that he double provinced three times in a row, while mine didn't work at all due to all the Old Witch curses. I'm not really sure what I ended up doing wrong (besides losing the Plaza split 4/6).

Hermit/Experiment

Experiment is an amazing Hermit gaining target when you don't want a bunch of Silvers.

Dominion General Discussion / Engine Building Help
« on: November 07, 2018, 08:36:14 am »
So, I recently got crushed in an engine game where both of us were pursuing the same strategy, but he started double provincing way before I did. After the game I realized I honestly have no idea how to actually build an engine. I have a few questions:

Is there a general formula for engine building? If so, what is it?

How should I practice building engines?

Thanks!

Dominion General Discussion / Engines that don't increase handsize
« on: June 26, 2018, 10:58:29 pm »
So, I have noticed that people have said that engines don't necessarily require handsize increasers. I have always wondered how they were possible.

So far, I have come to the conclusions that trashing and/or sifting are necessary for a functioning engine, besides the usual village, payload, etc.

Is it actually possible to build engines without handsize increasers?
If yes, then are there any other components besides the ones listed that are either mandatory or help quite a bit?

Thanks!

Introductions / New to the forums

Hello everybody!
I've been exploring the forums for a while now, and I finally consider myself good enough to add meaningful content to the forum.

I discovered Dominion way back in like 2011-ish (I don't really remember), and have enjoyed it ever since. I only started learning the strategy about a year ago, though.

Favorite expansion is Empires (Overlord ftw)
