Game Reports / Re: How would you play this board? v2

I think you can play this for a much shorter and simpler game. Once the curses have run out you can just empty the duchies and border village piles for a 3 pile ending.

Agreed.

I wonder if the AI will buy some curses so they can avoid getting cursed by Young Witch?

Dunno about that, but my opp apparently though Young Witch was a good card to run when copper is bane.

Tip: It's not.

What about if it said "Stash: 1,6,11" when you had multiples? And instead of a fan out it could just ask you to enter the position number. Not sure about where to put it though. And even if you just had numbers, if you have ten stashes all in pos 10+ that's 45 characters ( assuming comma space between each and colon space before the first)... That is a lot of room

"Shut down" is the wrong phrase. What I actually did was crash it. People have been discussing how you can run javascript on the opponents computer. It's not that hard to write some code that just crashes.

There are far more malicious things you can do besides just crashing it.

Oh, I am perfectly aware of this. I have send several long emails to Goko with the details of everything that I have figured out how to break/hack on their site. Took me about two hours to write. The only reason it was not longer is I am no longer even going to the main page.

The hacker in me is interested in the possibilities of actually running a program, rather than a line of code, on the opponents computer, and is curious about how secure their databases really are...

Fan out the cards, allow the user to click on the space where the card should be inserted. Then maybe off to the side have something that says "Stash: 15" meaning the 15th card from the top of the deck is the stash?

Stash is actually pretty easy coding wise. Remove it from he deck, shuffle the deck, insert it back in. That's how I handle the card irl.

This sort of vitriol does not help anyone.

Your right, my could probably use a lot of work. But since I'm asking them to explain why an 18 year old can run circles around their "security procedures" I think it is wholly justified.

Your right. I reworded my post.

Diring my testing, I discovered that I can deliberately crash my opponents computer by simply typing code into the game interface? I can easily hack your site to redirect users who are logging in to any site I wish.

What plans do you have to make us feel that your site security is going to be at an acceptable level for us to feel comfortable giving you our credit card info?

I can't get past the captcha. So annoying. Console says:
Code: [Select]
XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://webapps.goko.com/WebApps/bus/. Origin http://www.goko.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

LOL they don't have the header information to allow requests on goko.com from other servers and the two apps aren't on the same namespace

Amateur hour.

Edit: oh wait, no, an actual amateur has an actual working version!  So these guys haven't quite made amateur hour yet.  Little league perhaps?

It's actually worse than that. I got in earlier today and what I learned scared the shit out of me. The emails they send you are all plain-text, which almost certainly means that the databases are plaintext too (as translating into plaintext for emails is simultaneously stupid and time consuming). So, all our log in data, email addresses, and <<CREDIT CARD INFO>> are effectively saved in .txt files. That sounds real secure >.>

But wait, there's more! The standard interface allows you're directly connect with your opponents computer, and enter computer code. To test how far this goes, I played myself on two computers. From computer A I forced computer B to shut down, simply by typing into the game.

At this point I have decided I have absolutely no interest any more. Before today I would have said that no computer programmer would ever make either of these mistakes. Now I'm forced to wonder what idiots work on this site.

tdlr: DO NOT PLAY ON THIS SITE UNLESS YOU WIDH TO HAVE YOUR COMPUTER HACKED BY YOUR OPPONENT.

How would you change it given a 5/2 start?

Dominion General Discussion / When to not play Vault
« on: January 15, 2012, 11:44:34 am »
A 5/2 opener on a board with vault is verry powerful. But is it always the right move? There are a few 5 costs that could be better, like Montebank. So, my question is this:

The game just started and you go first. You see q Vault, but decide instead to buy...?

Basically, when is opening Vault not the best move. I'm especially interested to see if any 4 costs make the list... Do you buy Vault vs Gardens Workshop?

Dominion Articles / Re: Silk Road
« on: January 14, 2012, 08:43:26 pm »
Does Silk Road also Work With curse-givers?

Reasoning (somewhat oversimplified):
1. SR conflicts with fast engines and trashing; cursing cards prevent fast engines and slow down trashing.
2. Curse-givers tend to exhaust one pile on their own, making a SR/Duchy or SR/Estate rush much easier.
3. If you give your opponent all the Curses, chances are you're going to win anyway. If you don't, both your decks are likely to be junky. A junky deck has a hard time building up to Province, but a much easier time getting $4/5. Even if you clog up your deck with Silk Roads and Duchies, you should still be able to get $2 for Estates, which are worth much more to a SR player than a Province player.

See sample game here: http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120112-082530-85602d7b.html (although Familiar v. Sea Hag was probably doomed from the start)

I would hazard to say that curse-givers tend to go well with any strategy they don't interfere with. That said, I don't really think that they synergise especially with Silk Road. Most cards that speed up Silk Road tend to be terminal, as do most curse givers. I don't think there is a single deck in the game that would become worse by adding a random Familiar, though that's a different issue.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201201/14/game-20120114-173053-7876cc25.html

So, I go into this game thinking I'll pick up a few TRs and maybe a Spy or two, then fill up on Governors, Scrying Pools, and GMs with maybe some Apprentaces... then suddenly my opp is buying up the Provences and I started to rush to try to catch up. Where did I go wrong? Was I just playing too slow a deck? It seemed like I had horrible shuffle luck... it took me forever to hit 5$

True. I actually could have gone through the provinces a few turns earlier but when you realize u can pick up Platnums while gaining 10 VPs a turn indefinitely...

Well...a 5-card hand of KC-KC-Monument-Monument-Monument gains you 9 VP every turn for an infinite amount of turns...

Maybe you can come up with something more contrived that uses Goons and Ambassador, but for that to work perfectly, you'd need an opponent that plays Lighthouse or reveals Moat so the pile doesn't disappear into his deck.

Crazy as it seems this is based of a friends actual game. There is a way to actually ensure infinite VPs

Very nice game, and amazing synopsis. You did a beautiful job explaining exactly what happened.

What he said. You should really both be kicking yourselves for not playing Workshop Silk Road. I doubt the optimal play has any cards besides those two, estates, courtyards, and maybe Villages.
