Is it worth buying a fourth Stash for the guaranteed lock? The sims can answer this.

You could also create fluid cards.

Roving Village - $4

+1 card
+2 actions

--

When you draw this card, it gains one of the following at random: (1) +1 buy (2) You may trash this card immediately. If you do +$2. (3) At the start of Clean-up, if you have this and no more than one other Action card in play, you may put this on top of your deck.

(Other villages are not as conducive to the wording, but it could essentially be any $4 village.)

For spin-offs, I might do who knows what.

I'd suggest Castle Roller, but someone made that game already.

Bold Prediction: Beggar/BM will be a legitimate play style. Open Beggar/Silver on 4/3 split or even 5/2 for that matter. Whenever you can get a gold or Province by playing Beggar, play Beggar. Yah, those Coppers will dilute your deck, but just play Beggar a couple of times or so per game.

It's a little iffy. 3 Copper + Gold = $1.5/card, just below the $1.6/card needed for Provinces.

Wait, why? Hermit self-trashes.

Has nothing to do with Hermit trashing, has to do with buy forfeit. It's basically like a cheaper Tac that provides the big hand on some turn in the future (perhaps the next, perhaps later).

Assuming you're talking about dougz, given his employer, I think it's a little unfair to call him an amateur.

I'm going to edit all the card texts into the OP.

Including the unspoiled cards? It hardly makes sense to have a few random cards left unspoiled.

Are you involved in RFTG dev on Goko, keldon? If so, are you able to speak about it at all? Will you be taking down your free implementation when it launches?

Ha - I did the same thing, and I could determine its cost but not entirely how it functioned. I wonder if this means that the logs are insufficiently detailed?  ???

You've managed to snag perhaps THE golden IP of the decade, but a lot of companies seem to want to roll their own solutions (e.g. DoW) or produce for specific platforms (mostly iOS). Do you have other licenses in the pipeline? Are any with companies other than RGG?

Bluffing is actually pretty big in high-level trick-taking-games, and while I haven't played a lot of bridge, from what I do know, I don't think it should be any different there.

There is zero bluffing in competitive duplicate bridge. If you make a bid, an opponent can ask for clarification on the bid, and you have to tell him exactly what caused you to make the bid (cf. http://web2.acbl.org/laws/auction.htm#law20F).

Variants and Fan Cards / Thought exercise: nerfs and buffs
« on: June 27, 2011, 01:48:03 pm »
The other thought exercise got me thinking. Let's assume that Dominion is no longer a print game but is instead malleable and updated frequently. What are your nerf and buff proposals? I'm especially interested in buffs people might propose, as most cards that don't see a lot of play typically serve some niche.

Dominion Articles / Combo: University/Watchtower/X
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:50:39 pm »
This is one I find particularly fun. The University has the unique distinction of being a gain card with +2 actions. You have a Watchtower in hand. No longer do you need to wait for the shuffle; you can instead drop the Watchtower to draw your new card right away. I recall having an insane game in which the X was mostly Bridges, but I can't find it on councilroom.

Why is no one talking about Fortune Teller/Saboteur? It only works in a trashing game, but I feel like it's much more devastating and better in the late game.

Here's a game where my opponent ignores the curses apart from Remake killing them occasionally and just blows me away.

http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20110606-141046-4884645e.html

I'll have to find the game where I get platinum on turn 4 with Tac/SC opening, got hit with the Hag repeatedly, and won anyway.

Edit: found it.

http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20110506-132151-e2f2a453.html

In retrospect, if I'd just bought a Hag instead of a Market on Turn 5 (was using the Tac for the buy anyway) I probably would have won handily.

TP-Lighthouse doesn't guarantee that there's an attack in the set. Attack-Lighthouse does.

Game Reports / Re: High Score
« on: June 13, 2011, 10:55:43 pm »
That would make for an interesting puzzle for the site: what's the single highest point turn? Deck can be made up of anything as long as it's legal (< 3 piles gone).

23
I haven't tried this, but I just thought of it. In the 2/6 scenarios that theory mentions, one can look at the log and do a sort of substitution: what would my turn have looked like if I'd gone Wharf instead of Gold with that 6? It's difficult to speculate beyond a single turn, and it's nearly impossible to speculate beyond that shuffle, but it could be a useful tool for getting a better sense of when one should underbuy.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Duke Analysis?
« on: June 13, 2011, 01:02:34 pm »
Of all the "I'm going to delay the game by not going primarily Province" strategies, Duke is the most easily countered. The main Duke problem is that Advanced Big Money starts buying Duchies in the absence of 4 or more Provinces in 2p.

I'm surprised Wishing Well/Ambassador doesn't rate better. If you hit your Wells perfectly, they're Labs, and even if they hit 60-70% of the time (which should be doable over the aggregate of the first two or three reshuffles) I think they're better than Caravans because they're faster and they don't get tripped up by reshuffles.

Mountebank/Lighthouse seems obvious because you get a non-terminal that provides solid coin and protects against the most devastating attack in the game.

I've started moving away from Ambassador/Ambassador, but I used to take it all the time. The 70% chance of no clash in reshuffle 1 is worth the 30% chance of a clash. And in the case of a clash you're still returning two cards.
