Dominion General Discussion / Guilds or adventures?
« on: September 16, 2015, 03:57:36 pm »
between me and my friends, we have all the expansions besides guilds and adventures. which one next?
look, when I mentioned an engine, I was talking about the first game engine.Just playing more cards doesn't guarantee that you win in Dominion...They were asking me if I bought more cards besides smithy and village, so I was saying I bought markets, cellars, a remodel, workshop and militias.
Well, in that case, the key card of your engine would be the Militia.

I played more cards I just call it village smithy because thats the core conceptHow is that a problem?Village Smithy Engine>Smith BM
She is actually right if you are playing the base game
If all you play is villages +smithy, I doubt it's better than smithy bm
I had way more actions than just villages and smithys, I had markets, cellars, a workshop, and a remodelHow is that a problem?Village Smithy Engine>Smith BM

Village + Smithy is not an engine by itself, it needs more component.
Smithy BM > Village Smithy BM

I would totally wear a T-shirt with "YMYOSL" on it, although I'd prefer it also had the Dominion logo so it would be a good conversation starter about the game and not just a total personal nerd-outwhat does that stand for?
When would you get a workshop? You recommend picking up a Workshop? I usually skip it, and just get the Remodel.
I would get both.
Best time to get one?You recommend picking up a Workshop? I usually skip it, and just get the Remodel.
Skipping it is certainly not a big mistake on that board, but I think getting one is slightly better.
I didn't even buy a mine or workshop. I'm using geronimoo's first game engine. Also, is opening militia silver or remodel silver better?I tried the first game engine against a BM player for the first time last night. I lost because often times before I got to the draw entire deck stage of it I ended up with terminal collision problems, leading me to not buy anything some turns. Is there an efficient way to trash things like estates and some coppers (replacing the coppers with silvers) to get to the draw entire deck stage quicker?
Thanks,
Nate
There is no way to be absolutely safe. If you get terrible luck a deck with terminals will always* lose to a money-based deck. Especially if you play with cards that require "friends" (Moneylender requires copper, Remodel loves Estates, Baron requires Estate, ...) However, also after you decide to go for "terminals" or "engine" or whatever you'd like to call it, you can play it safer or riskier. What riskier or safer implies depends a lot on the kingdom, but in the first game engine it mainly comes down to the number of Villages you play with. Do you barely have enough or do you have a lot of them?
A trap you should prevent is buying too many terminals. Workshop, Mine, Militia are all cards you want only one of. Remodel you also want one of, although maybe very close to the end a second one. It is much better to have one Mine and play it every turn because you're flooded with Villages+Smithies that draw your entire deck every turn, then to have multiple Mines you can't all play anyway.
If you want more advice, you should describe in more detail what you tried.
* bla bla edgecase bla bla
I assume this is the kingdom:Yup
Cellar, Market, Militia, Mine, Moat, Remodel, Smithy, Village, Woodcutter, Workshop
The kingdom: Moat, Village, Bureaucrat, Militia, Remodel, Spy, Thief, Library, Witch, AdventurerHow would you counter the slog in a kingdom of bad cards? The other player is better than me so Slog vs Slog is not an option.
You want us to tell you how to outplay someone who is better than you? That's, uh, not necessarily something that can be done. If the best strategy is going to end up revolving to a slog, your best option is probably to play your best and hope to get lucky. But as Jack Rudd says, without knowing the kingdom, it's impossible to really suggest anything specific other than "play well"
My card didn't have a code either. I just used the code elahrairah13 posted. What code?
Can Anyone help me with this?I expect you will get more advice from questions like these if you post what the set-up is, for the people who don't want to go look it up.
This particular one is the one where you start with 10 Feasts and well just get Festival first, it will be easy.
The rules are correct. It might help to think of it like this: Throne Room makes you play a card twice. This means that you literally play the card once, follow the instructions written on it, and when you've finished playing it for the first time, you play it again. It does not mean that you play the card once with its effect doubled.Exactly what I said.
How much would it hurt the combo if Hermits were exchanged for Madmen instead of being trashed? With the stipulation that you can't buy anything still in place.how?
Yes, I regularly write on the backs of Coppers:and that's how trashing was thought of.
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
Get out of my deck!
I'm still hoping that one day they will listen.
good point.why didn't you give him your coppers?Assuming you mean 'the fronts', like LastFootnote said; still no.Gave my blanks away to a friend cause he was making custom cards.
- Copper runs out in a few cases, especially in multiplayer Mountebank games. So it would affect the game.
- There are actual blank cards in every box as far as I know.
- It's just blasphemy.
