This happens frequently. I don't mind it happening once, what I do mind is that there still isn't a ban list. I should be able to ban these players from playing with me again. This (to my knowledge) was a promised feature, and I would love to see its implementation quickly.

Match making is broken.

1. I've been put into games through the good match feature that are consistent almost entirely of base set. I think this is because the person I was playing only had base set as "familiar cards", so a max of 3 unfamiliar cards were chosen. Clearly there is a problem if I am having to play people in primarily base set games. Simple solution, get rid of the familiar cards list entirely. If people want to not play with cards they don't know (own) they can check that as an option.
2. What is a quick match, what is a good match? This isn't explained. It should be showed through a pop up when you hover over the button at the least. The only thing I can guess at is that good match doesn't provide you with a bot match?
3. The tables are abysmal. There are far too many. They don't host enough players for a tournament. You can't really see any info about the players at the table or why you'd want to join one vs. the other.
4. Playing with a friend is ridiculous, because I have to do so through a table. When the system put me at a table with my friend, there were other people there. We ended up not playing against each other.
5. Matchmaking now has a ranking system, but I cannot see my ranking. Any info on this?
6. When I leave a table, it shouldn't put me to the new table page, it should put me back at the tables page.
7. When I hit ready on a table with no other players (in attempt to indicate that I am ready for a match with a human opponent if they were to arrive) I instead get put into a match with a bot. I don't want a match with a bot. Is there an option to stop this from happening? I never want a match with a bot.

I ideally want a system where I have parameters for a good match by my standards (similar ratings, will use the full array of cards from whoever owns more) through clicking a button and getting paired up. Alternatively, it would be fine to have people search for their own games through going through tables, but that doesn't work when there are a ton of tables which only contain 1 person (and through my experience often contain someone that is AFK). It doesn't work when you know nothing about the potential match that you are getting into other than the person's name (no rating, no list of cards, no gameplay preferences etc.) If we are to sort ourselves into games, we need info to do so properly.

The actual gameplay product is fine, though I am often lost as to what just happened without looking at the log. The matchmaking is the issue that needs to be fixed the most.

Also, why is there no option to stay logged in?

I'd appreciate an explanation for how the matching system works.

1. What is a quick match vs. a good match?
2. Is there a ranking system? More importantly will I be able to use this to specify what ranking of players I wish to play with?
3. Is there or will there be a ban list? Specifically, players that I wish to not play with again.

Action - Treasure, turning Tributes into Mercenaries since Empires.

Tribute hits Harem and TBD Action/Treasure. +2 Cards, +2 Actions, +4 Money.

Beginner "My laboratory only provides +2 Cards, + 1 Action. I thought you said Dominion was balanced!"

I'm not a huge fan of the subscription, but offering people a free year to make up for the implied promise of having bought everything forever is reasonable enough so I won't beat the horse to death. I really like the idea of purchasing a lifelong (well implementation long) subscription, at the least I'd hope for the ability to have year long subscriptions ($30 a year vs $3 a month?).

I'm sure you will have all of the cards implemented and good autoplay features so I have no problems there. Dominion shouldn't be the hardest thing to program, and you did a great job on the patches, so I have no doubt that the finished product will play very smoothly.

Other areas of feedback

1. I strongly hope for a return to a forum based system. Being able to lay my own game down and only play with the type of people I wanted to play (of similar ranking, playing by the same VP settings) was tremendous. This also allows for tournaments / league play to be far more organized. At the very least I hope that if everyone draws from the same play-pool that I will have the ability to play people who are good/similarly ranked. None of this within 1000 points nonsense.
2. Please no global chat, it's terrible. I haven't seen a single useful comment on it, and I don't want to see it.
3. Events. For the standard game I don't want events to be included all of the time. I view them like colony/platinum or ruins, they shouldn't be present for every game.
4. The game logs sound excellent. I hope there will also be good isotropish like rankings and the ability to search for game logs. Not sure if this is something that would be hosted by your client, but hopefully it will at least be compatible for it.
5. I'm not a huge fan of different tiers. If it really ends up only being $3 a month, or maybe $4-5 a month when all cards are released, either you'll pay that amount or you'll be at the free tier. I can't imagine too many people paying $2 for only an expansion or two. I think free players are brought into the game by having the base set, and being able to play with all of the other cards their opponent has. If they really like the game, they'll then pay for it. This also allows paid users to have more opponents. I also need the option to play a game online with more than base set cards if I stand a chance of convincing friends to join online, additionally I consider it one of the best features of being a member that I can play with my friends online whether they want to subscribe or not. Other ways could certainly work, but I think this is one of the few areas that the other online implementations had right.
6. There are a lot of people who seem like they will take the offline version, and never play online. Would it make sense to give a free month online with the offline service so that people at least give the subscription model a shot?
7. If you don't make animations sparkle enough, it will ruin the game for casual users.

Worst card in Dominion, maybe. Pirate Ship and They give this a run for its money.

Pirate Ship is far better. On boards where there is no source of virtual money (or strong virtual gain) Pirate Ship can utterly dominate. Adventurer has no such cases where it dominates.

No trashing? - Yup, if I remember correctly.

Either way, Treasure Trove I guess is really legit. I'll have to look out for it when Adventures comes out on MF. - Personally I'm not spending another dime on MF, their implementation has been awful, I'm waiting until the 2017 version comes out and hope that the implementation is good there.

It will be great to have a blacklist again, which I assume will be a feature in the 2017 implementation.

Let's Discuss ... / Re: Let's Discuss Adventures Cards: Treasure Trove
« on: March 27, 2016, 10:41:22 pm »
I had an intricate engine consisting of festival, artificer, library, and distant lands that enabled me to gain and play multiple distant lands within the same turn. A relatively new player crushed me with Treasure Trove, it is a very powerful card.

Even better than upgrade with it is junk dealer which gets money for trashing. Ideally it works well with things that trash copper for benefit, trash while not slowing down the deck, and that draw cards (big money).

I imagine it would work poorly against cursers (the gained treasures slow down one's ability to play cursers in response) and especially ambassador. Other than that, the only major downside I see is that on it's first play it's just a silver, and the benefit comes through the reshuffle.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: A second half to Alchemy
« on: March 23, 2016, 04:02:06 am »
I really like Alchemist's Seal, but perhaps it needs +1 action attached to it so it can work as a better engine component. This might bump up the cost to $3P

I like your box Adam.

What sleeves do you use for your cards? They look excellent.

With the new expansion coming out I'm debating whether to go this route for storage. I'm thinking two boxes would be necessary. This route would lead to their being enough space for everything, but the weight seems like a killer.

Does anyone sell these on ebay or etsy? I'm not handy and would prefer to purchase something, though I would be willing to give making this a shot.

With Empires set for May what are your plans for storage? How do you currently store your cards?

I intend to purchase all of Dominion shortly and have the cards sleeved. Beyond that I'm trying to figure out what box(es)/binder(s)/whatever to store them in.

2. Ever since I knew there would be another expansion, I've been racking my brain trying to think of a way to fit all of the kingdom cards and one set of supply cards in my box. The conclusion I've come to is that I'm totally screwed. I can't think of any way I can fit all of these cards into one box with sleeves on them. Like, I just don't know what I'm going to do. Nothing I have seen out there will work.

There are storage solutions that are more expansible, but none of them will work with Fantasy Flight sleeves, and I'm not unsleeving my cards.

Maybe I should start another thread about this.

I'm likely purchasing all of dominion and sleeving the cards soon, and this is my main worry, storing everything. Perhaps having 2 different boxes with room for additional cards (for future expansions) would be the best option. I imagine carrying all of the cards in one box is quite weighty as is.

I haven't been able to finish a game the past 5 times I've tried. Thankfully we won't have MF for long.

Thank You!

My main concern is having talent compatibility again, having the option to play players of similar levels whether that is through a table system or something similar to isotropic days. Having additional playing options (veto mode, veto list, point trackers etc.)

MF was getting better and responsive to input, but they built a fundamentally poor product.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: The Dominion Cards Lists 2015 Edition

Thanks for setting this up. A minor question, why did you decide to include the event cards in with the kingdom cards? I would personally prefer them to have separate rankings, though them having comparable cost points with kingdom cards makes sense as to why you could include them as a whole.

Nice trick.

I'd already checked the result and counted it as 4-2. Please report any objections to that.

It was 4-2, probably just a typo.

My opponent quit during a hand of his, that I was possessing. Goko could not figure out how to handle the situation, it didn't move to the quit screen. It would not even allow me to resign the game, the only way out was to refresh the tab (or quit the tab, but same thing).

I have saved a screenshot if that is desired, but someone would have to tell me how to add it here as copy and paste isn't working.

2015 / Re: discussion: pausing the league?
« on: May 09, 2015, 11:57:09 pm »
I'm new to the league and the forums, so I'm excited for starting the league, and therefore against pausing it.

If the tournament is single elimination, pausing the league becomes less necessary. I'm for double elimination, but it appears the vote was in slight favor of single elimination ... though my calculations could be wrong.

I'd love to join, but I can't commit this far out in advance... so I'll be looking at the renaming tickets closely. I normally play 2 player, but if I wanted random faceless 2 person I could play online so I don't think it being 3 player is an issue.

I would love if there was a greater focus on Adventures (at least 1 kingdom card per game?) as I can't play it online, but at least one game with a large number of those cards isn't bad.

Thanks for putting these tournaments together, I read about last one just a few days after it was too late, and it looked great.

Two question areas. With events now added how do you plan on randomizing them? Do you plan on having them at all? Perhaps a set amount based on the number of Adventures cards in the set?

And how is the parking nearby the store, if I'm willing to walk would there be free parking anywhere nearby?
