If it is my opponent's turn and I gain Emporium (maybe due to Messenger with cost reduction) and I have five duration cards out, do I get the On-Gain bonus of +2VP ?

You can BoM anything less than $7 cost if you Ferry the target card's pile. BoM as Goons!

Remember that Ferry and trash-for-benefit interact, which can be a bad thing if you're trying to Apprentice expensive shit or whatever.

On simiiar note: If you Ferry Border Village, you can only gain cards costing up to 3 with it.

When I play a Reserve Card and put it on my Tavern mat, I guess they will not count as "in play" afterwards (relevant for peddler buys, or resolving horn of plenty)?

Will played Action Reserve Cards count as Played Actions for Conspirator? I think, they should...

4
Princing Jack of all Trades is generally not very good in most games, because drawing to 5 only helps after hand reducing attacks and it depends heavily on the question if you want so much silver.

But the biggest problem is that you keep trashing cards which you wanted to play at the start of your turn.
Wait where is my familiar...  :o

One lesson I learned from this game was that moneylender is generally quite weak against cutpurse. Because when your only copper is cutpursed, moneylender loses its target. That happened to me in this game some times.

Fairgrounds takes a bit of a hit, I suppose ... 6VP Fairgrounds would require a copy of all 8 Kingdom Cards, all 3 Treasures, all 3 Victory cards, and a Curse.  At least there aren't that many terminals and Nobles if you are desperate.

You can use Potion instead of the curse.

Tonks77 defeats bitwise 4-2

Game 1: bitwise 70 - Tonks77 82 --> 0:1
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-141503-b70695b3.html
Highway, Goons, Black Market, Fairgrounds, Expand. I have a 5-2-start and go mostly for highways and goons. I also buy an expand. hoping I could do some expand tricks after playing a few highways. Later I add black markets and fairgrounds. But somehow the content of the black market is not very interesting (mainly because there is no village in the "main" kingdom), so we both only get to 6-point-fairgrounds. I win due to 30 VP chips from goons.

Game 2: bitwise 15 - Tonks77 6 --> 1:1
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-142451-b443296f.htmlw
Chapel, Conspirator, Pearl Diver, Haggler and Workers Village make us both go for a conspirator engine.  With  his 3 hagglers bitwise can 3-pile quite early for the win.

Game 3: Tonks77 39 - bitwise 36 --> 1:2
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-143622-840ee83c.html
Native Village, Sea Hag, Caravan and Council Room. bitwise has a 5-2-start, which is quite unlucky, but I think his Native Villages often helped him to put away top-decked curses. I go more or less for Big Money, with some Caravan-Support and although I lose the curse split due to some bad shuffle luck I can aquire much more silver and gold than bitwise. Still the result is quite close.

Game 4: bitwise 18 - Tonks77 37 --> 1:3
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-144314-6cac4dd9.html
Fishing Village, Witch, Masquerade, Expand. I manage to buy a witch in T4 while bitwise is a bit unlucky and does not get >4 before T5 (and buys a gold then). He can buy his witch only in T7 after his 3rd reshuffle, when I already have my 2nd witch. My early expand helps to turn copper and curses into Fishing villages,  estates into treasuries and 5$-cards into provinces. Guess I was quite lucky in this one.

Game 5: bitwise 57 - Tonks77 47 --> 2:3
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-145150-066f560a.html
Duke, Silk Road, Horse Traders and Governor. We both want to go for dukes and silk roads. In turn 7 I buy a duke instead of a duchy due to a misclick. This causes me to lose the duchy split 3-5 and seals my defeat.

Game 6: Tonks77 41 - bitwise 26 --> 2:4
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/15/game-20121215-150700-365ea99f.html
Apothecary, Familiar, Mountebank, Trading Post. While bitwise buys a potion for familiar in the opening, I buy Mining Village and Silver, to increase odds to get a curser before the 2nd reshuffle. Later I get another mountebank and also a familiar. Trading post is a nice trasher. Later Develop helps to get golds and more mining villages from them.

Thanks to bitwise for these very interesting games.

Overall: jaybeez -  Tonks77 4:2

Game 1 (0:1):
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-110651-f1a54b9b.html
jaybeez 30 - Tonks77 41
Treasure map/warehouse against Hunting parties with Navigator. Although my treasure maps activate quite late, I can also buy some hunting parties and a gonns later. Goons gave brought the win with extra VP and extra buy.

Game 2 (0:2):
jaybeez 15 - Tonks77 45
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-111725-6d7463d1.html
There was much going on in this one with Festival, Bazaar, JoaT, Wharf, KC, Young witch and possession. When jaybeez bought a potention I found it was time to go green and also buy another young witch.

Game 3 (1:2):
jaybeez 27 - Tonks77 24
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-112617-f649fbc2.html
jaybeez had a 5-2-start and could buy 3 IGGs before I got my first. With the help of remakes and salvager I could still make it a close one, but in the end I didn't have much of a chance here.

Game 4 (2:2):
Tonks77 33 - jaybeez 50
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-115132-3a834126.html
Although I win the Ambassador war, jay's deck has more buying power due to conspirators and schemes. My rabbles fail to do much damage to his deck.

Game 5 (3:2)
Tonks77 31 - jaybeez 37
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-120003-6d0696d0.html
Vault opening against double-swindler opening. Although I can luckily get 2 golds in T3 and T4 with my vault, I get most of my coppers swindled into curses. In T20 I have 9$ in hand, duchies and estates are already gone and I am exactly 6 VP behind. So buying the last province would have lost me the game. My only hope to win was to give out another curse to jaybeez, so I had to buy another swindler with 9$. Then next turn jaybeez swindled a province of mine into the last province and so won the game  :(

Game 6 (4:2)
Tonks77 27 - jaybeez 33
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-120640-30d5b99d.html
Interesting BM-game with wharves. Ambassador and masquerade. While I went for masquerade, jaybeez opended ambassador. He managed to develop more buying power. Also I had a bit too many masquerades(2) and wharves(4), so they drew each other dead quite often.

Thanks to jaybeez for 6 great games and good luck for the next rounds.

Can anyone think of a way to gain Victory cards with HoP without trashing it (excluding the obvious gain BV trick)
Not exactly what you asked for, but if you play Counterfeit - HOP, you can gain two Victory Cards from one HOP.

How would you receive a duchy from transmuting a Harem? Harem is not an action card, but a Treasure/VP card, so you would gain another Transmute and a gold.

Trickster sounds like Jester to me, but Swindler makes more sense.

Trickser is the German card name for Swindler. Jester is tranlated to Harlekin.

Mine can support alchemist chains really fine. Didn't draw your Potion to put the alchemists back? Just mine a silver into a potion. Have 2 potions but not enough money? Make one potion to gold.

Puzzles and Challenges / Re: Bob's winning deck
« on: June 02, 2012, 09:07:59 pm »

Points Before:
Bob has 18 curses and 3 estates --> -15 Points
Each of his opponents has 6 Duchies, 3 Provinces and 3 Estates --> 39 Points

Because opponents had played Councilrooms before his new 7-card-hand is:
KC-KC-KC-KC-Councilroom-Councilroom-Councilroom, enabling him to draw all of his remaing deck, including 18 curses, 3 ambassadors, 3 bridges and enough KC (too lazy to calclulate how many are needed, but it should work). He than KC-ambassadors all of his curses to his opponents (9 each), leaving them with 30 Points. Through KC-KC-Bridge-Bridge-Bridge he can buy the remaining 6 Provinces and 12 estates (he has plenty of +buys from councilrooms and bridges, winning by 48-30-30.

Edit: Fixed 2 typos
This is not immune to attacks.

At the start of his turn, Bob looks at his hand, smiles and says "Good game" assured he will win regardless of what luck happens next.

As Bob sees this hand at the start of his turn, we can assume there were no discard attacks before his turn. I don't know which attacks should happen to him after that, because after his turn the game is over. And even if his opponents manage to defend against his ambassadored curses, they will still have no more than 39 points.

We also have IRL Qualifier tournaments. The BSW one is only one of the possibilities to qualify for the German Championship.

Tonks from Germany.

Just to mention: Pawn could give a +buy if needed.

Dominion Articles / Re: When is Pearl Diver (or spy) any good?
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:24:16 am »
I think the most interesting aspect of Pearl Diver is the fact the cards at the bottom of your deck are most likely to miss the reshuffle. So putting a gold or another keycard from bottom to the top can ensure you to play it this and the next shuffle.

On the other hand keeping a green card or a curse at the bottom will increase the odds of playing it only once in two shuffles.
