I'd also be happy to playtest the new client. I have multiple PCs running Win7/Win8, an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy S7.

2

I would also skip Sea Hag on boards with Marauder or Young Witch, maybe Trading Post.

Why would you skip Sea Hag because of Marauder?

Call me crazy, but I've noticed that Counting House works well with Scavenger. If you have both in hand with a village, then you can draw all your Coppers. If you have Scavenger, a village, and another can trip, then you can still draw all your Coppers. Sometimes, you might have loaded up on villages and cantrips in a game with weak trashing.

I used this strategy once (with a Village and Market Square). It was'nt too great, but decent, and fun  ;D

4
Really surprised that Gardens also dropped so low. It quite often defines the strategy on a board and in other situations it's still usually a nice pickup toward the end of the game. I ranked Gardens a lot higher, on #10.

The rise of Scavenger is well deserved, in my opinion. I'm still not sure how strong that card really is, but my estimate of this card has steadily increased.

Interesting to see Quarry and Ironworks move up so much - they are "old" cards, after all.

I've also found that it's a good card for when you and your opponent have both gone heavy greening, and you're in that situation where you just like need the last Province, or something. And your deck is terrible, and you have bad economic chances at getting it. Well, you can pick up Deathcart and hope. I think Deathcart is pretty good in this function as a last resort card. You occasionally see this with like Mandarin or Nomad Camp or something, but Deathcart is nicer, really.

I have wondered a few times about that, but I'm still not sure whether it is.

I have also tried getting an early DC for a big masterpiece quite early in the game, not sure how effective that is.

I really don't know how the discussion heated up like that, definitely unnecessary. Calm down.

Since it was asked for opinions, I just want to briefly add mine: In Pro Mode, full random should be played and nothing else.

I also wanna share some quick thoughts about the games.

Alexfm 3 - 1 Rabid

Transmute, Hamlet, Stonemason, Vagrant, Masquerade, Pirate Ship, Worker's Village, Mystic, Soothsayer, Bank,
I like my chances as first player with Silver / Masq against 5/2 Hamlet + soothsayer
Closer than I thought it was going to be after I delay the 2nd masq for too long, but I manage to win this one.

I think what made the difference here was Rabid's second Soothsayer which helped a lot with the gold gaining. I think I should have bought a second Soothsayer quite early in the game as well. In that case, I wonder whether those later golds I bought should possibly have been Stonemasons+Worker's Village/Masquerade. A bit annoying was that I never really connected a Stonemason to a single gold when Duchies were still available.

Herbalist, Develop, Doctor, Fishing Village, Oasis, Bureaucrat, Militia, Salvager, Cartographer, Border Village
My T3 $5 gets hit by Militia, then I try to get fancy with salvager Boarder village.
Alexfm plays it better and just buys gold for the win.

I get quite lucky in the opening with the Militia and afterwards, although Border Village-Cartographer-Salvager sounds pretty decent, I'm not sure whether going for it is worth it due to the lack of +draw on the board.

http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140317/log.516d4258e4b082c74d7b660a.1395089995946.txt
Embargo, Fool's Gold, Ambassador, Cutpurse, Silk Road, Rebuild, Royal Seal, Saboteur, Vault, Farmland,
My Amb + FG against Cutpurse + Rebuild + Embargo.
I think I'm favourite here, But break PPR at just the wrong time and they have 3 silver + farmland for the win.

Quite an interesting board. Not sure which strategy is best here. I don't think Ambassador is too strong against Rebuild and FG is vulnerable to Embargo (although I don't hit my Embargos until rather late), so I decide to just go Cutpurse-Rebuild-Embargo. When Rabid breaks PPR I'm lucky and have the perfect hand to end the game.

Masterpiece, Workshop, Death Cart, Smithy, Talisman, Butcher, City, Laboratory, Mint, King's Court
I play this engine very badly, than panic and go for the win a turn to early, forgetting you need to empty 2 piles for city to give + buy.
Alexfm keeps it simple with Smithy Masterpiece for the easy win.

Thanks for hosting a fun match Alexfm, good luck in the next rounds.

Also an interesting board. Of course some cards here, especially King's Court, scream for an engine, but the engine-components are rather expensive and there is lack of +buy (except for twice upgraded cities) and an attack on the board. Smithy-Masterpiece is a very good bm strategy, thus I believed it superior. I manage to hit a good first masterpiece and can accumulate a lot of points rather quickly while Rabid builds his engine. In the end his engine is one turn too slow (I just need to buy a duchy in my next turn and then there's just not enough points left for Rabid).

Thanks, Rabid, for fun and interesting games and good luck in the future rounds.

Alexmf defeats Rabid

My thoughts on the first part of this list:

- In the ruins-list, people put ruined market on #2 because it might be the only +buy in the game. Here, Woodcutter is second-last. Strange.
- Great Hall is really not a great card, but of course it is still bought in a reasonable number of games because of its dual-type nature, its cantrip nature and because it's better than estate. Thus I don't think it belongs even lower on this list.
- Workshop and Wishing Well seem underrated to me
- Sage's drop is well justified, in my opinion
- very surprised to not see Masterpiece down here. I had it on #27 and thought that was way too high

I have a feature request: Having opponent's # cards in deck, relevant tokens, etc duplicated on the sidebar. The goko layout makes these a pain to see if you also want to see # of actions, buys, and coins. Thanks!

Oh yeah, that would really be a great addition. Another one of those ridiculous interface problems would be resolved.

11
First of all, I wanna thank you, Qvist, again, for making these lists. It is always a pleasure to see a new list posted.

On the ruins ranking itself, I'm not quite convinced on the ranks #2, #3 and #4. I have a feeling that people overestimate the probability of having that magical great engine that just lacks +buy, which you then obtain via your ruined market. +1 card seems a bit underrated here to me. While this is not an accurate comparison, consider a random card that would either get +1 card or +1 buy. Certainly, in almost all cases, you'd rather have +1 card than +1 buy. This is also reflected in real cards (compare e.g. Smithy - Hunting Grounds - Margrave). This kind of comparisons aside, I believe that just those many occurrences of "meh turn in a ruins-heavy game - 1 free action left and no action card except ruins in hand" in which you'd rather have Ruined Library (so that you can actually buy a single decent card, you don't even worry about buying two cards) swings the balance in favor of Ruined Library, but I stand to be corrected here.

I'm currently checking the lists. I had a lot of submissions, more than 120.  :o

That is great news! Well, it probably means more work for you, so possibly not great in that way  ::), but I think in regard to Dominion and the community here that is a very positive sign concerning the future.

Frankly spoken, given the method I and probably many people used to sort the cards (duel mode, separated cards by cost), it is just not possible to put together a complete list because there a comparison between cards with different cost never occurred. E.g., if I put Chapel > all other $1-2 cost cards and Ambassador > all other $3 cost cards, there is no way to determine whether Chapel > Ambassador or Ambassador > Chapel.

Witch #23...wow. I feel it is much stronger than that. Even with decent trashing, it slows down your opponent while providing not too little of a benefit to yourself.

More generally, I'm also in fact not quite sure whether your statement "The biggest things I want to mention are that my estimation of trashing, generally, has been going up and up and up, and junking going down - it's ignorable reasonably often!" is even logically reasonable. That certainly sounds provocative, but really, isn't junking pretty much contrary to trashing in the very simple sense that if I give you a junk card and you trash it, everything is as it was before - so how can the value of trashing be rising while your estimation of junking drops? Yeah, there are other aspects to consider (like for example what happens when there is only trashing and no junking in the game), but I still see that as a conflict I'd appreciate you to elaborate on.

Forager-Minion vs. Remake-Minion, he wins the Minion split 6-4 and goes on to win the game.

Straightforward Minion game. I draw better and win.
1-1
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20140221/log.516d4258e4b082c74d7b660a.1393017494427.txt
Pretty interesting board. I like my approach of not going overboard on action cards here due to no +buy/trashing. Got lucky again too.
2-1
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20140221/log.516d4258e4b082c74d7b660a.1393018889936.txt
He wins the curse split by far, but then his swindlers hit terribly. He makes a mistake in getting throne rooms and that seals the deal.
3-1

Thank you for the games!

Let's say you're playing strictly Smithy-BM, and it's the mid-game phase (i.e. you got 2 Smithys but it's not Duchy time yet). For $5, do you get Silver or Masterpiece?

20
In theory, in the real game, you are not allowed to inspect the stacks of the opponents except for the top card (source: rulebook).

It is, however, a stupid rule, because splaying will allow you to see parts of the cards below anyway. And then it's just a matter of "how well do you know the cards" or "how little can I move the cards so that the splay is still visible, but none of the text is readable" etc.

Yeah, I also realized the strength of Currency in a few past matches. It's really a good scorer, especially when used in Age 3-4+. The possibility of claiming Monument is very nice when just try to get to 6 achievements as quickly as possible.

Base: Clothing / Domestication

#2
Early scoring is just so good. Clothing for the scoring and domestication for the melding without risk of overmelding Clothing.

23
The $5s are really hard to rank, imo. I mean, even the cards on the last ranks aren't really bad, rather situational.

Concerning the concrete rankings:

CH is certainly not a great $5, but imo worth it not that rarely. I've seen it put to good use in Ambassador games, for example, and the $ generated by it is not that bad when compared to say, Harvest. I don't think it's the worst $5, probably not even in the worst five $5.
I would also have rated Saboteur a bit higher. It can turn games around with a bit of luck, when you're desperate.

I pretty much agree on the rest, although i would have switched the rankings a bit.

Edit: Yay for the rankings going up!

But then which cards would you say are worse? I agree Counting House and Saboteur have their uses, every card has its uses, but which cards have fewer uses?

Well, I don't really know the DA cards, so can't comment on them.
But I can see myself rating Harvest (imo the worst $5), Mine, Contraband, Cache and Stash below CH and Saboteur. Maybe Explorer too, but I probably underestimate that card.
I think that CH and Saboteur more often have a dramatic impact on the game than those other cards I mentioned, and that often CH and Saboteur are disregarded prematurely (this does not make them "good" $5's in most cases anyway, and I'm pretty sure both belong to the worst ten $5 cards overall).

In fact, I would rate Tribute below CH and Saboteur as well. That may, however, be a personal issue, as I just dislike buying and using this unstable card which relies so much on luck. You don't know what you will get, you can't choose anything, and usually options range from  +4 Actions over +4 Cards to $4 (all of which sometimes great, sometimes horrible). You can even be so unlucky as to draw two same cards. Such a random effect is not what I want when I play a card, especially a $5 card.
