Poor Adventurer and Coppersmith, they are even removed from the "Removed Card Kingdom". Can we at least let them the title "Most removed cards" so they have something to remember the glorious days they were actually relevant present in (online) Dominion?

Game Reports / Strange game with Wall and Wolf Den

Strange game I just played, including Wolf Den and Wall.
Upgrade and Altar as Trashing, other Cards being Farmer's Market, IGG, Hoard, Artificier, Sage, CotR and Shelters.

So, u basically want a slim deck, but no single ones. No 4 and 7 costs, so u can get slimmer with Upgrade a bit easier, which actually matters in this board a lot. Hoard is probably a trap here, because u get a lot of extra cards (and ur risking some even stay unique) In end game, we were just trashing stuff we thought we have only 1 copy of and mostly bought nothing or VP cards we already had. It was a unique endgame experience, still not sure though if a conventional strategy wouldn't straightup beat it.

Funny was, he had 7 Provinces and some Estates in the end, I won with like 5 Duchies as my only greens (Buying a single Estate in the end would actually lower my score by 3 points). The Wall penalty for him and my Farmer Market VP points gave me the edge in the end.

All your Sauna cards become Avanto cards.

...but that doesn't happen in winter.

But yet Sauna is the place where it's hot and Avanto where it is cold.

I didn't reread all 200 pages of this, but I haven't seen any Game of Thrones cards yet, so here are my ideas. No Spoilers of S7, but read at your own risk if u just started the Seasons 1-6

The Iron Throne
Gain 7 Provinces, a King's Court and an Advisor.
This can only be gained if there are at least 100 cards in the trash.

Winter Is Coming
+2 cards
All players put their -1 card token on thir deck.
All your Sauna cards become Avanto cards.

Night King
Action - Attack
Trash a Knight from the Knights pile
Every other player reveals the top card of his deck. You may trash it. Gain any of the trashed cards this turn.
When this is used in a game, also use the Kights pile
This card can only be trashed by "Dragon Glass" or "Valyrian Steel".

Tywin Lannister
Action - Attack
Remove all your debt tokens
All players have to discard their Throne Rooms and Kings Courts.

Iron Bank of Bravos
Each player counts his VP, If you have the most: This produces extra $2.

Jon Snow
+1 card
+1 action
If you play Jon Snow the second time this turn, gain a Mercenary
Setup: After 5 turns this supply pile goes to the trash and may only be regained by cards of the "Lord of the Light" pile

Trial by Combat
Choose a card you have in play. Every other player have to reveal a card from their hand. If their card is cheaper they trash or discard it, you choose.

Jaqen H'ghar
Choose a card from a supply pile. If no copy of it is already in play: This become this card until it leaves play.

Ser Bronn from Blackwater
Action- Duration
Gain a Coin Token.
You may discard two cards from your hand. If u do: Set this aside. 2 turns later, you may get a castle from the castle pile and discard this.

Possible 101 topic: What is Dominion 2nd Edition? And Where Did Scout Go?

The latter would be more fitting in a 404 topic.

Littlefinger should have calculated those two things being known and should have prepared plausible excuses/planned accordingly.
Also, it wasn't too far fetched that Sansa/Arya might talk about the issue and it's quite terrible to have no possible reaction in that eventuality.

The thing is, the way Sansa and Arya arranged it, they managed to catch LF off guard, he clearly wasn´t prepared at THAT very moment. Why wasn't he? I think he just underestimated Sansa and felt in wrong security, because he was too sure Sansa got trapped by his "What's the worst thing Arya could want"-scene. Which is not entirely unplausible, because Sansa had lots of moments already where she almost blindly followed LF's advices. But if the Stark sisters wouldn't have used the element of surprise, I bet he would have looked better defending himself.
In fact he even tried to convince Sansa to talk with her privatly, so he had time to find some excuses.

I am happy to brag that I've beaten it on Deity :)
Do not enjoy playing on Deity though, because AI advantages seem too artificial at this level

Wow, congrats for that.
I guess you went for the classical Gandhi Domination victory :)

Never tried higher than difficulty 5, I actually haven't finished a lot of games yet at all, but there are numerous savegames with different friends constellations waiting to be continued.

Factorio and Civilisation 5

I've spent hundreds of hours for both

According to Steam, I got 200 hours on Factorio and 170 on Civ. Great games indeed. Still haven't beaten anything higher than difficulty 4 AI in Civ though :)

I also play the drums, like to watch movies and go skiing in winter.

So what do you do in summer?

That's the community I missed  :)
I apparently still can't write stuff in English the way I mean it.

My name is Marco Hermann, 21 years old, living in Lucerne (Switzerland) and I am currently studying Economics at the University of Zurich

Some of you may still know me, I was playing lots of Dominion a few years ago. It was about in the end of the Isotropic era and the beginnings of Goko, reached Top 20 at my peak. I recently rediscovered Dominion and try to get used to the 2 most recent expansions. Was very glad to see there are 2nd Editions of the Base Game and Intrigue now. Aside from Dominion, I started playing quite some games: League of Legends, Factorio and Civilisation 5 to name a few. I also play the drums, like to watch movies and go skiing in winter.

Not because they are my least favorite ones (besides Cultist), but Witch, Cultist and Amb deserve definitely to be mentioned in this list, imho.

EDIT: Voted for Swindler, because of it's randomness. But if available, I'd go Cultist

Help! / Re: In Which My Lust For Heralds Is My Undoing

try this Treasure Map-Herald thingy

Warning! DO NOT ATTEMPT to play Harold without a Treasure Map in hand!

The plan is to have the TMs connected through the Overpay effect, so you won't play Herald before connecting them. But it seems to slow eitherway...

Help! / Re: In Which My Lust For Heralds Is My Undoing
« on: March 08, 2014, 06:58:04 am »
I did this fault once, thinking Herald-CSM could work. If Herald hits CSM, you have a mixture of Baker, Bazaar and Market resulting , for 2 cards costing 6$ together, so probably no big deal (and they hit not that often).

I am tempted to try this Treasure Map-Herald thingy (into mass Masterpieces), but Merchant Ship/Explorer-Masterpiece (Plaza for Smnoothing) should beat that.

But the number of cases in which you need +buy, in a Ruins game where your deck is filled with junk, and it's also not already easy to get from the kingdom cards, is not very high.
Well first of all sometimes Ruins are available and the game still won't be a heavy-junking slog: Death Cart with no other Looters; Marauder without Cultist with decent trashing; or, elite trashing with Marauder and/or Cultist.  I mean, yeah, you don't get those games all the time but they're not super rare or anything.

And it's not just about the engines, sometimes +Buy can help you a little bit in a slog, probably to get a couple extra Coppers or maybe to double-Estate or something.

Yeah, but if you had a Mine instead of that market, it could have been a Duchy.

I think generally (in sloggy decks), Market is weaker than Mine and Library, maybe Survivors. But it  can win games, thats why it should be higher than the "average value".

I would play ITR-ITR-Burocrat-Rogue after 2 Highways or a Princess
Yeah, thats two cards throned, but the otherway I can't see any way.

Rogue trashes and gains the Duchies and Provinces of the opponents' deck, even all the alt VPs which costs $5 or more (problem aganist a Garden player, then you just don't play the cost reducer)
Burocrat is for removing VP cards from the opponents hands, not even Torturer can guarantee that.

Game Reports / Beating Beggar/Gardens
« on: February 08, 2014, 08:24:49 am »

Just a thing I wanted to share.
I immediately saw Beggar/Gardens, but as 2nd player, my winning chances in a mirror were a little worse, so I went for contesting Gardens via Bishops (knew they are big counter against alt VP) and then adapting into a Governor thing. I was very surprised that this strategy could compete even if played not at all optimally (should have keeped that Loan longer for example) But of course, I don't know if I could have won if my opponent didn't miss Gardens t5, which was very unfortunately.
The funny thing is that here, Governor for cards is just very good because it helps your opponent only marginally and the otherwise superior Gold-gaining is very dangerous.

Do you guys think this was just a lucky shot or is Beggar/Gardens just the wrong choice?

How DO you parse your username? silver-spawn or silvers-pawn?

silver-spawn^^ i had this  name way before dominion

Wait, there was a time before Dominion :o?

Am I missing something or can you just do CC supply emptying*, then draw the things and play Count: put on top a self-trasher and trash your whole hand, draw the self-trasher because of OE's on trash and play the last card (Mining Village, Embargo, whatever)

*of course it's more difficult and takes maybe 1-3 turns longer because you have to leave 1 card of every pile so as not to 3-pile.
how do you want to gain these last cards from every pile without playing a card? you could procession all the cards you play but then you have procession beeing the last card.

Hmm, stupid me.

How about that:

I'm not sure how to start this, but you want to come to a point where you have 10 Hermits in play for changing them into Madmen. On the final turn, you play: Procession: Then many KCs and Processions and TR's on special cards:
1.) Hunting Grounds, you draw many cards and gain more KCs (due to the Processing) and Duchies/Estates. The Duchies will be tradered in order to empty the Silver pile. (This has to happen before step 2.)
2.) 2 Bridges for...
3.) Gaining the cards that can't be gained through Procession. This is possible with Ironworks/Armory/Workshop.
4.) Beggars for emptying the Copper pile
5.) A card like Storeroom to discard and rediscard the gained Tunnels --> Gold pile empty

At this point you should have a big hand, all cards in the supply costing $4 or less, and most- if not all - of the cards bought. Your only card in play is Procession. Now you play 8 Madmen in order to get ALL the cards in your hand ( could also be used between the steps 1.) to 5.) if the handsize gets to small in practice), then processing a Count, Putting back 2 Madmen and trash all the cards.

(I hope there are enough KC'ed Processions to do all this stuff, in doubt, you gain 9 of them, but also with BoM available)

EDIT: Please don't say me Procession on Madman doesn't trash Madman...  :'(

Puzzles and Challenges / Re: Clean out all cards!
« on: January 25, 2014, 10:36:26 am »
I think there was alread a thread like that. I can remember it was something like: Open Chapel/BoM, trash 4 cards on t3/4 (BoM as Capel), trash the rest on t5 and then play BoM as Embargo/Mining Village. This is 6 turns, but I think if you can empty the supply in 4 turns, you can also clean up in 4...

  • Open Silver/Throne Room

6 player game with IGG on the board. You are first player and open silver to do a silver/silver opening to IGG when you realize all 5 other players have a 5/2 split and open IGG.
You know realize all 10 IGG and all 50 curses will be gained by the time of the second shuffle. That means the game will be ending in am estate/duchy rush and willl probably end around before the third shuflle. You need an high risk/ high reward plan to have a chance.

Luckily for you there is one: in the form of poor house. With some warehouse support. But their is no village so your best chance to grab an early lucky province (which would probably put you in a favorable sit) is to throne room that poor house using Warehouse to remove the copper. So by the end of the T5 and the 2nd reshuffle you plan to have: 1 throne room, 1 poor house and 2 warehouse in your deck. Problem is there is a chance that you may not reach 4 again during the next 3 turns (you have 9 coins in 17 cards) there is also a chance that you got a 2 coin or 1 coin hand in those 3 turns so you want to keep the poor house buy for such an hand. (plus you don't want other player to see what you are doing right now to avoid copycat).

Edge case level: Over 9000
