Goko Dominion Online / Re: Playdominion.com/base exists now, sort of

I believe people have said that all the cards will be available once you buy the online version. So I would say don't worry about that. He's just saying one person "hosts" the game, just like whoever invites another player on iso "hosts" a game.

Unless I'm wrong, in which case someone in the beta feel free to correct me.
One person will own the cards and the other person will not have to. That has been the plan and I do not imagine it will change. I don't think people in the beta have any extra information there.

The expansions will be sold separately, but hey you can buy them all at once if you want. The main set will be free. There will probably be a couple ways to get the promos, one of which will be beating campaigns.

You can't please everyone, but I do not imagine too many people will be unhappy with the pricing scheme.

If there is a lobby, like there is on Isotropic, will there be an indicator next to each player's name that tells us which expansions they have? As in, if I were to buy none of the expansions (very unlikely, especially if they're reasonably priced), would I be able to see which expansions my opponent has, so that I can pick certain opponents over others based on that info?

Pod: Stringer Bell, Fading, LittleLionMan, and notedloch

Game 1
Fading: 53
LittleLionMan: 52
notedloch: 48
Stringer Bell: 35

Game 2
Stringer Bell: 35
Fading: 31
notedloch: 28
LittleLionMan: 28

Game 3
Fading: 27
Stringer Bell: 25
notedloch: 24
LittleLionMan: 15

Game 4
Fading: 55
LittleLionMan: 32
notedloch: 22
Stringer Bell: 15

Overall
Fading 1-2-1-1: 22 points
Stringer Bell: 4-1-2-4: 10 points
LittleLionMan: 2-t3-4-2: 9 points
notedloch: 3-t3-3-3: 7 points

A really good set of games, definitely the most enjoyable set of the four qualifying days, for me. Best of luck to Fading in the next round of qualifying, I'm sure he'll make it there with this near-perfect record.

I'm really, really sorry for beating this dead horse but there really needs to be a point system here. It is not really close to fair, with some people playing four 3p games (more wins available per player each match) and some shared wins resulting in more wins per player per match. I know it's really too late to change anything, and now that we've started I definitely wouldn't advocate changing anything now that we've started, but this is not close to fair.

/endswhining

It is a very strange system, it would have been much easier to assign points based on finish in each game, like so many other tournaments do. Give 4 points to the winner, 3 points to second, and so on. In the case of a tie, like we had in the pod I was in, the two tied for first place would each get 3.5 points, and the two tied for third would each get 1.5 points. If you want to put more weight on winning the match, give 5 points to the winner, and 3, 2, and 1 to the rest.

In the interest of clarifying the tiebreaker rule, what about wannabe?  I wasn't in that pod, but I read that the other two didn't want to play a fourth game (though wannabe won 2 of 3).  Not sure the tiebreak rule on this...

Had a no-show. So this pod was Obi Wan Bonogi, Crimz and wannabe

wannabe: i'm sorry gentlemen...i can't play the last one as something has come up...I apologize!

Crimz and I declined to play game 4.

If wannabe can't finish the pod, then I would imagine he is treated as a no-show and is therefore disqualified. That may seem a little harsh, but I'm not sure how else to do it.

So if I'm counting right, everyone has reported and the top four are

knaacku - 3x 1st, 1x 3rd
pirate ship economist - 3x 1st, 1x 3rd
Cielo Azor - 3x 1st, 1x 3rd
Personman - 2x 1st, 1x 2nd, 1x 3rd

The other 2x winners are

Mic Qsenoch - 2x 1st, 1x 2nd, 1x 4th
jayarsea - 2x 1st, 1x 3rd, 1x 4th
atariman - 2x 1st, 1x 3rd, 1x 4th
wannabe - 2x 1st, 1x 3rd, no 4th game

Well what about HiWay2Hello in our pod? He had a 2nd, t-1st, 3rd, and 1st. Does the t-1st count as a win? That would put him on the same level as Personman...would they have to have a playoff in order to figure out who moved on?
Even if it counted as a win, people defeated is the first tiebreak, yes? And HiWay2Hello would have one fewer person defeated, because he certainly didn't beat the guy he tied with.

Is 'players defeated' only counted from the games that HiWay2Hello or Personman won? As in, if someone gets third place, does he/she add a player defeated to their total, because they defeated the fourth place player?

Farb 3-2 Stringer Bell

Major attack cards were in play for all five games, which I always have trouble dealing with, for some reason.

Game 1
I ran out the Lighthouses before he could mount a comeback, though I was pretty far clear anyway.

Game 2
My attacks almost never got through his Lighthouses, and I just got cursed to death.

Game 3
Went big on the Laboratories and it worked out nicely, especially on the last turn.

Game 4
His Level 3 Cities worked wonders on the last few hands and I got too far behind early on.

Game 5
Very strange ending, he KC'd a Swindler and got two of my Provinces, which ran out the Province pile for his win. I got to my KC twice but each time didn't get an action to play with it.

All in all, a really interesting set of games that had tons of attacks and crappy, curse-filled decks.

Well, I got beaten to a pulp. Only really had a shot in the first game, the second and third were blowouts. I even got to go first in games 2 and 3 and still got heavily beaten.

Game 1
IGG ran two piles out really early, so I thought it would be a good game for City, since I would be quickly getting to level 3 on it. There were so many Coppers, Curses, and IGGs in my deck that a big engine was probably not a great idea.
Game 2
I think we both had a similar idea here, to go for Tunnels and cards that would discard to gain Golds. I underestimated the power of Venture in this, opting to try to parlay those Golds into Provinces through Governor.
Game 3
This might have been my favorite game of the bunch, even though I lost by 24 points, because there was so much scoring and each turn could be a ten or twelve point turn if the cards landed right. I'm interested to see what people thought of this one, I'm not sure what my mistake was here.

Very well written article, perfect for those of us who are beginners to the language and vocabulary that is used around the forums. I often find myself choosing between the Gold and drawing the cards, never knowing exactly which is the right play, so this will really help a lot.

I'm sure you're doing the exact same thing, but I got bored and put together this spreadsheet organizing everyone by isotropic rank: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah6dTyQTfYBBdGNtTWxUdnhVb0FnT29EYXZsQkJsZXc

Feel free to use it if you like. :)

Hey, I'm not last! Also, for those of us who haven't played in a Dominion tournament before, is there going to be a specific time to log on to isotropic to play these matches, or do we just set them up individually with our opponents, with a certain end date for each round in mind?

Set them up.  Generally people do so in PMs.  End date is 19 June for round 1.

Okay great, thanks.

If you're really into the show, check out thewirepiecebypiece.com. I'm not affiliated with the site, but I really think it's interesting. Since most of the people on here are probably fairly intellectual, considering the game we all are attempting to master, some of the fans of the show might really enjoy such a minute breakdown of The Wire.

This blog is godly! And it linked me to wirefans.com, too! I have so much reading ahead of me. Also, if the blog does 2 articles per week and 6 articles per episode, the whole thing will take several (more than three) years. If it gets done, awesome, but I am only expecting to get through season 1, max. Now I know what to do while Iso is down... go re-watch the Wire (again).

I'm hoping that he continues through all five seasons, but I doubt that he actually will. It just seems to be too large a project for one person. I'm doing the same, going to restart the series after the Euros are finished for the day.

Also, I have SO many issues with that chart, but this isn't really the place for a discussion like that.

Any update?

Oh why hello Stringer. I didn't expect to see one who is no longer living to be posting on the Internet. A most curious phenomenon. The best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

- Brother Mouzone

Brother! I've got a job for you as soon as you join me down here in Hell. Satan is absolutely terrible, just like Avon. I'll need you to take care of him, the same way you have been doing for years on Earth. No hard feelings about what happened in the housing development.

This should be appreciated by this particular audience... (Oh man I can't wait 'till Iso is back...)

I'd love to play, but I'm not all that good. Is this a tournament for more experienced players who are higher on the leaderboard or is it open for anyone? Here is my Council Room profile link: http://councilroom.com/player?player=Stringer+Bell

People of all skill ranks play, but naturally, the people on top of the leaderboard tend to perform better.

Thanks. I'll \in and just do the best I can.
