Game Reports / Opponent throws away win for no reason

I was trying to build a Throne Room/Market/Treasury engine with Amulet for trashing, but then my opponent pulls Witch from Black Market. He then proceeds to beat me up until the very end, pulling some more treasures from Black Market for tons of Keep points. However, at the very end, he buys the last Province and a bunch of Coppers, making him lose because of Wall. I guess he just didn't see Wall there or something.

I have no idea how to use this card effectively.

How often is it useful?
Is it worth trashing Estates with it?
Is it more of a remodeler or a gainer, or both?
What's the craziest setup you've pulled off with this card?

Question in the title. Whenever I see a card like Apprentice or Develop or something I internally groan because I know that I'll probably lose because I don't know how to use these cards. How do you use these cards effectively? Thanks!

Literally the title of the post.

I haven't seen many, but the weirdest one I've seen is one that I've made. It was a deck that had Villa and used discarding Faithful Hounds to Forums as "draw".
