Innovation General Discussion / Figures UI change
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:36:55 pm »
After the next server restart (in ~90 minutes), the way you select an Inspire action will be different.  Instead of buttons appearing in the left-hand column, you'll click on the card (just like for a Dogma action) and get a popup menu with "dogma" and "inspire" options.  The menu only appears if the color is Inspire-able; if there are no visible inspire effects in the stack (or if you've already Inspired this turn) then clicking it will just do a Dogma action as it does now.

I can revert this change if it's widely hated, but I'm forever clicking on the cards when I intend to Inspire.

Innovation General Discussion / Figures in the Sand
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:59:58 am »
Tonight's restart (in about 30 minutes) will add Figures in the Sand.

It's likely to be buggy, and it's likely to be buggy even in games that aren't using Figures cards, because many things in the first two sets had to be rewritten to make karma effects work.

http://innovation.isotropic.org/faq   has a list of known issues; please check there before reporting them.  (But if it's not there, report it via email to me!)

http://innovation.isotropic.org/cardz   shows all the cards.  This url won't work until after the server restart.

Innovation General Discussion / new players
« on: March 06, 2013, 02:31:41 pm »
So, as you may have seen, the Dominion site is closing down a week from Friday.  The page will probably be replaced with a FAQ explaining why it's gone and directing players to Goko.

Should it also mention (and/or link to) innovation.isotropic.org?  At first I thought "yes, duh", but then I thought maybe having a sudden flood of non-Innovation players (or worse, people who think it's a site to play Dominion) would be bad.  Maybe a new lobby for people learning the game (plus people who are willing to teach / play newbies)?  I'm soliciting opinions or other ideas here.

Puzzles and Challenges / Dark Ages playtest art
« on: March 01, 2013, 12:13:20 am »
Robz888 said he was curious to see the playtest art for Dark Ages (the ones that would be used on isotropic if it had Dark Ages), so I figured I'd make it a challenge.  Here they are in random order; see how many you can match with the cards.

Innovation General Discussion / Supremacy
« on: January 14, 2013, 01:59:44 pm »
My new favorite "whoa, oops" moment:  having Masonry on your board and melding The Wheel, Metalworking, and Mysticism (on the way to achieving Monument) causes you to achieve Supremacy!  In a real game I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even be thinking of getting a special achievement "naturally" on turn 3...

Innovation General Discussion / Online Innovation
« on: December 31, 2012, 06:58:23 pm »
If you like the game Innovation, I've just made public my new site for playing it: http://innovation.isotropic.org/.  The interface should look familiar.  :-)  Like the Dominion site, it's not a particularly good place to learn the game if you don't already know it, but hopefully there will be a critical mass of people who are already familiar with it and want to play it online.

Dominion Isotropic / Leaderboard change
« on: November 23, 2011, 07:14:09 pm »
Starting with tonight's update to the leaderboard (if all goes well), only the past 30 days of games are going to be counted towards your rank.  Games older than that will have no impact whatsoever on your score.

This means that if you get better, your old games won't be dragging down your rank forever.  It also means that you can't maintain a high rank based solely on past performance, playing only an occasional game to keep your account active.  I think this is a good thing — I'd rather a high rank mean an active, fresh player — but you may disagree.  If there's something really wrong with it I can always restore the old method.  This is my third attempt at trying to account for player's skills varying over time; if nothing else it is at least the simplest to explain.

Yes, Karumah is still on top (and his sock puppet Kretin is now dead last, by far), but I expect everyone who cares knows about him so really, who cares.
