I came up with a card im happier with.
I present: Appraiser

VERSION 4:

Edit notes:
Made appraiser cost $4 as its worse then lab. Made it able to play treasures in your discard pile, meaning its sorta like a smithy in card draw now. Thus removed the +2 Cards option on silver, cause playing a silver that way with appraiser without having to draw the silver is essentially a hunting grounds, which is nuts for $5, let alone $4. And thats not talking about the fact that you get money from the silver!!
Removing the +2 Cards option makes silver now a necropolis + silver. it simplifies the card and removes uninteresting decision points. And it made it so i can just remove the "If it's your action phase" part, saving a lot of space on Appraiser. which is needed when it allready has text on the top.

Hopefully silvers still feels like Silvers here. Im not a fan of removing the money part on silvers, it's part of its identity

Tightened up wording. Made it match charlatans text more. Removed the "play from hand" part, and now it is just playing from the discard pile, but you discard a card first.

FAQ:
If you discard a tunnel with Appraiser, you gain the gold first and is thus able to play it with appraiser.
If you also get conclave on the kingdom, you should just replace it with another card. sorry!!

IMO this version 4 is far too strong at $4:

Whenever you have a Silver in your discard, Appraiser can be played as a Grand Market (minus the buy) plus a Fugitive, that's $7+ territory.

When you have a Silver in hand instead, it's still effectively a Lab if you discard and play the Silver (since you save an Action by playing Silver with Appraiser).

And since Silver is very strong (close to Festival) in Appraiser games,  you will usually have several Silvers in your deck anyway.

I have thought about that: but im unsure how it is at £5 cost.
I could make it cost 5£, +3 cards, discard two. It would match forum then.

All draw is stronger with appraiser on the board, so im unsure about making that change

The more Silver you have, the more they are willing to do for you.

I considered making this tecnicly terminal but letting you get +1 Action as well when discarding cards. i decided against that, and felt that making it non terminal was better.

Hyena: A terminal draw that lets you trash your deck. Reacts to trashing, and you can oneshot it to make it a one time hunting grounds if you are done trashing.

A card that lets you replay any single-type cards you have in play, in exchange for trashing it.

Edit: It is now Action-Command and can only replay-trash single type cards. This is to prevent looping.

When you spend a token, if you have more differently named cards in play than Sir Pounces, you may play this from your hand.

Favors are pretty good, so this card gets a bit of a limitation to avoid the sort of chain reactions that are frequent with Sheepdog and Black Cat.
Some Allies will make this tough to trigger, but maybe there's some other type of token around that you could spend?

Shouldnt this have “reveal your hand” because you can lie about how many sir pounces you have in hand?

Updated Horse trainer. It was too good if way of the otter was on the board, and the +1 Action meddled with the card in some ways.

Goat is sad

Listing Goat in A tier was wrong but it's definitely not sad. non-terminally +1 Card, +1 Action, trash a card (which is basically what this is) is quite strong. If Rats didn't give you another rats people would be all over it. And turning into a different card later is a premium upgrade for a trasher.

Otherwise I agree with basically all of your posts on this topic. It think we disagree just a little in that I estimate Horse Trainer's power to be a little higher than you (I think the +buy would be pushing it), I think because I suspect the variety adds a lot.

Im happy to see my card sparking such discussion XD

Ive been uber tired and thus havnt edited it yet, but i were planning to exit it to 4$, with no plus action. MAYBE make it gain 2 horses, playing one of them.

Might be too good for a 4$  but i think its probably the most fun if you can open with it.
6 makes it hard to alter the game early

Cool idea but way too strong. Gaining a horse is +1 Card value; playing a card as a way is about +2 Cards value (probably more since you have choice?). And then you have +1 Action. So this is probably stronger than +1 Card, +3 Actions. Just cutting the +1 Action might make it okay.

How would the card be if it cost 5 and you HAD to switch ways?
I also considered having it having +1 action and gaining 2 horses without immideatly playing it.
Or a 4 cost which doesnt give you +1 action but two horses

Made it terminal by default, priced it to 5 instead of 6, and made you gain two horses instead of 1.
Compensated for the loss of +1 action by making you be able to choose between three set aside ways. That should also reduce the chance that this card is irrelevant on a certain board.

Move a Trait to a different Kingdom pile. All players including you may reveal any number of cards from that pile to get +1 Coffers per each.

I assume they reveal cards from that pile from their hand?
Note: While moving, you must follow the Traits rules: only put them on Action and Treasure piles, and don't put a second Traits on the same pile.

My attempt at a Village workshop that gains to hand without being overpowered.
In addition, there isnt any duration workshops from what i know.
The duration here serves 2 purposes:
1: Allow you to gain cards twice
2: Make it easier for other players to track that they can gain a card to their hand or deck.

+2 actions might be overpowered, but it seems more fun to me.
i considered +2 Villagers but that seemed bonkers.
The wording feels a bit off to me, but i dont know how to improve it right now.

FAQ
  • Once per play of Communal workshop, ANY PLAYER may during their turn gain a card to hand or topdeck it.
  • If there are multiple communal workshops, the effect stacks.
  • If you topdeck a card with a different effect or gain it to hand via say, sleigh, then the Communal Workshop effect is unused.

The any player is intended to be that each player get to use the effect once.
