Thank you for the kind words, fika monster! I really appreciate it.

I am soooooo sorry it took me so long to respond. A couple of days ago I was unavoidably sent on a last-minute, week-long business trip overseas (I’m from the US) by my company.

Unfortunately, that also means I won’t be able to judge this week’s contest, as I’m working round the clock.

Again, my apologies to the community. Good luck to everyone this week!

Donald X, Is there any reason you haven't posted on the forum in a couple of months?

They look good, but they'd look even better without the text!

If playing with veterans of the game you could remove the text entirely, just keep the border info. That would look cool. And you get to play a game that's completely unfathomable to the uninitiated.

That's demonstrably not true: please look at the text on the full-art Village!

I’ve been participating in this contest for longer than most, and so far, I’ve never been banned. Here’s my best attempt at a red card:

*$%# all of you. My submission got 1 respect and Gubump’s non-substantive language changes to my submission got 6 respect. That’s nonsense.

(I leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine whether I'm joking.)

A nest of one-shots.

Thanks to Gubump for several excellent language suggestions.

I hate Adventurer with an irrational passion. Not sure if this fixes it for me though.

I have a replacement for Adventurer as well:

Weekly Design Contest / Re: Weekly Design Contest #150: Half!
« on: April 29, 2022, 12:21:15 am »
My son (whose full birthday it is today) really wanted me to post this last week, but I never got around to it. Then I looked at this week’s contest: HALF!

I'm aware that "when buy" is out of favor these days, and this card commits the further sin of using "when buy" and "when gain" on the same card. But as I understand DVX's concerns, they relate to confusing casual Dominion players, and I assume if you’re on this forum, you’re interest in Dominion is more than casual. The card works best (and is balanced best) with the "buy" and "gain" as they appear here.

FAQ: You may trash a card whether you buy a card from the Supply or the trash.

13

You reveal cards and gain one of your choice. Then shuffle the rest of the revealed cards and deal one to each other player.

Goat is included to ensure there is some way to trash the unwanted cards gained from other players’ Communes (or possibly even from your own). I do not believe the "Attack" type is warranted, but it has been intentionally omitted in any event.

"Can buy" language based on Deluded. Theoretically, this prevents the player who buys it from buying Victory cards, but practically, that should rarely matter.

Carrack is a ten card non-supply pile.

Weekly Design Contest / Re: Weekly Design Contest #133: A Time to Feast
« on: November 02, 2021, 01:24:43 am »

Fête may be used in place of an official Prize when playing with Tournament (or an unofficial card that uses Prizes), and follows the rules for Prizes from the Dominion: Cornucopia & Guilds rulebook.

Weekly Design Contest / Re: Weekly Design Contest #125: What's the Draw?
« on: August 21, 2021, 12:25:18 am »

I don’t think it’s a problem, as you’ve added a whole new spin on it with Discovery, but FYI . . .

NoMoreFun previously submitted this card to the "Revised Versions of Published Cards" contest:

Research's setting aside and missing shuffles makes it not all that fun.

IMO

Research
Action - $4
+1 Action
Trash a card from your hand. Gain a Horse per $1 it costs.

The horses could be top decked but without the duration type and setting aside it's a big buff.

Then I subsequently submitted this card (not having seen NoMoreFun’s card) to this contest:

GO BIG OR GO HOME!

Split pile (five 'n five):

21

A simple, but sneaky, Way (and death to hand-size attacks) – useful in some spots, but mostly not once you get an engine going.
He, that is my idea but in a way instead of an action XD

But this way is not useless once you get an engine going: It can be your engine. You can make an engine out of Chaining festivals. Village, terminal action and any following action is an Laboratory. Chaining Cellars/Warehouses become even more useful to sculpt your perfect hand. You greatly underestimates the power level of this way.

My apologies: I didn't notice your card and didn't initially understand your comment. I would be happy to take mine down if you want -- it really is too similar (but different), especially posted right after yours. Let me know. Again, sorry.

It's only a Lab in some circumstances. Also, Labs have a whole other chaining effect that you can't replicate easily with Charnel House.

*Draw until you have 5 cards in hand.
Drawing won't change the number of cards you have, only the number you have in hand.
Yup, that was stupid. Thanks for the help. I changed the OP.
