Most sets come with a generous supply of blanks, and if you don't have any there's always a good way to make do. If remembering the card instructions is a problem, set one aside and use one extra blank.

Do the Allies split piles have 56 cards in them?

Good point. Let's say it just says the top card of the pile is duplicated.

A card named "it" (lower case "i"). The text could be something like "You may reveal an Action card from your hand to gain a copy of it".

In my mind, regardless of the number of players, there are six national parks. Yes, six. Anything more and quadratic growth makes losing splits too painful when splits are a thing that happens.

Even then, having all or all but one of the National Parks is pretty bad news for everyone else. Mountain Goat addresses this issue by organically discouraging getting more than three National Parks (one for each Estate). Mountain Goat's power as a cheap nonterminal trasher also doesn't lean on the high-variance value of the National Parks. And hey, if you do decide to get rid of your Estate-turned-Duchies, Mountain Goat isn't too bad at trashing that Curse too.

And so, here he is: Mountain Goat! A munchy trasher whispering to you that there are better starting victory cards to be had than estates.

While i'm not on Discord i could help. I'm curious on the data format - why a database and not a spreadsheet?

I already have a spreadsheet with some 322 cards, that are not mine, and another 160 of my own. My columns are: Name, Object (C = card, M = mat, H = Horizontal), Designer (i used user names from this site), Made Date, Quantity (which is important for printing purposes and filtering the data), URL, Card Type, Special. Special houses some particular data like: if overpay is present, if its part of a split pile (to link those cards), or if its "Not in the Supply".

Could you share the spreadsheet perchance? For now, more data is better.

As for why I haven't been doing a spreadsheet, it seems pretty immediately clear to me at least. I mean, for types alone you run into the problem of a many-to-many relationship. Sure, you can have a comma-separated list in the "types" column, but then you have to run a special regex search every time you want something that's a treasure and an attack. And then if you're trying to categorize cards like me, hey, that's another many-to-many relationship, and imagine how big the spreadsheet would be if you have a column for each category! There are many more problems too, but needless to say a spreadsheet is a terrible way to go about this unless you are doing something very simple.

They look good, but they'd look even better without the text!

If playing with veterans of the game you could remove the text entirely, just keep the border info. That would look cool. And you get to play a game that's completely unfathomable to the uninitiated.

Now I want to play a game like this somewhere public.

I had a card idea and as a way to mitigate its effect, I thought i should put it as the bottom part of a split pile.

Randomizer: Silver Thief/Gold Thief: This pile starts the game with one plus one per player copies of each card. All copies of Silver Thief are on top.

Silver Thief ($4, Action-Attack): Each other player trashes a Silver or reveals a hand with no Silver. You may gain one Silver from the Trash to your hand. At Clean-up if you gained no Silver this turn, trash two Silvers from the Supply.

Gold Thief ($7, Action-Attack): Each other player trashes a Gold or reveals a hand with no Gold. You may gain one Gold from the Trash to your hand. At Clean-up if you gained no Gold this turn, trash two Golds from the Supply.

This attacks players, robbing them of their Treasures. If it was unsuccessful, it preloads the Trash for future gaining to keep the failure likelihood low.

Why do you always write in that font/color text style?

I don't know if the victory point is worth it being trashed on the first play. I feel like the effect should be more or the cost less.
The main perk is not the , but the trashing clause itself. Sometimes, you want to hit , but do not wish to keep the Silver that got you there. Recycled Goods is just that: A Silver that does not linger in your deck. And it's mostly better than keeping a subpar stop card.

Recycled Goods can copy Duchess’s “In games using this” wording. It also doesn’t need the Reaction type because the contents of the trash are common knowledge.
True that it could use Duchess' wording, but that would add a 4th line of text, shrinking the font. I think the current version is a good compromise between readability and ease of understanding. The only reason why it's blue is to draw attention to the fact that it can be gained from the trash. Same as Patron; that card is uselessly coloured in blue, yet it still is since Donald X. figured that players could benefit from the extra tell.

Yeah, but the trashing is forced. Spending $3 to hit $5 once maybe isn't great. Stop cards aren't great either, but I feel like this is extending that line of thinking too far. There is a point you want a silver, and that point lasts longer than once during the third/fourth turn.

He's playtested it a fair bit, including with me, and it hasn't seemed underpowered so far. Keep in mind that the non-one-shot version is not only a , but a that you have to go through 5+ other cards to get to (I say "5+" because those 5 cards can potentially return themselves to the pile). And the Reaction amps it up a decent amount as well.

The reaction doesn't amp the actual card up, it just makes it so you have it in your deck more often... It doesn't provide any more reason to buy it.

As for it being a "5+" without the one shot, that doesn't really change my opinion much. You can't play it multiple times, that's a huge drawback. Not to mention your original argument was that it's strength came from it leaving your deck. I feel like that indicates a card is weak in the first place (and silver is fairly priced, so that's probably not what this is about, but your argument falls through nonetheless).

I'm working on a database for dominion fancards and would love some helpers with the technical aspects. Message me on discord exfret#7014, mention me in the #variants channel of the dominion discord (or, preferably, the subthread I created labeled "fancard database" in that channel), or reply to this topic for more information.  :)

I remember there being some problems with cards in different places costing different amounts, though I can't remember them. Just something to be careful of.

15
Clockwork Steed looks bad compared to Caravan, being a twice delayed Lab.
It's also vulnerable to handsize attacks in a way Caravan is not.
This was actually a 3-cost. I let my feelings during playtesting get ahead of my common sense. I'll change it back.

I think playtesting supersedes vague comparisons to other cards. Seems more like a 4 cost anyways considering that two are like a hireling.

EDIT: Not to mention that you have another card that gives you a coin instead of a card and costs more. Generally, I'd rather have extra cards.

11/12/2022 - Added 19 more cards, deleted Hidden Village.

Why delete it entirely? Now I don't even know what the conversation was about.

You can buy it as an event (applies only that turn) or a project (applies for the whole game). Buying as a project saves you buys, but locks you in for the rest of the game. Not always wise, but on draw-to-X boards, for example, this can be pretty good.

My favorite card is possession :(

Have you considered doing something like Visit/Relative?

I have! But I completely forgot about it. Might have a new submission upcoming.

I really like how Underling gives a lot of favors. Now imagine if it actually did something else! I introduce to you, loyal village. It's a village, AND it gives you favors.

Icy Venture
$5 - Treasure - Duration
+$2
Reveal cards from your deck until you reveal an Action or Treasure. Discard the other revealed cards. If you revealed a Treasure, play it. Otherwise, set it aside and play it at the start of your next turn.
-
When you reveal this, set it aside, and keep revealing cards as if you hadn't revealed it, then discard this when the current card is resolved.
A Venture that can't hit copies of itself. (not sure about the best wording).
FWIW, this is what this would look like on an actual card (not the right triple-color scheme):

Which satisfies the "fine print" of the contest, but I think it would be good to look into ways in which you can reduce the amount of text needed.
oh. uh...
I guess that's the problem with not mocking up cards is I never realize how wordy they turn out to be.
If I think of a better version (or something else), I'll update it. If not, well, I probably won't win.
(Also, I keep thinking up concepts that seem simple in my head but take a lot of words to write out.)

Oh that's nothing

It's jealous of other cards you get  ;D

Can I add an addendum for it to say "during your action phase". I didn't mean for it to also restrict cards gained during buy phase too!

I couldn't avoid the temptation of making my own replacement for Pearl Diver. Intrigue already had a Kingdom treasure (Harem), and Seaside could have one.

Pearl
$2 - Treasure
$1
Look at the bottom card of your deck. You may put it into your hand.

Fishing a Treasure is the best, and fishing a Victory card is OK. For Actions, it depends: unblocking for the next Pearl might be beneficial

Next contest should be “fix pearl diver”.
