Not sure if this has been noted yet, but Devil's Workshop can pair nicely with certain events. I ended up in a game that had Expedition and was able to buy that and use DW to gain a Gold, all for just $3. Other events would work in the same way, providing you a nice bonus for your coin, then rewarding the non-gain of cards with a Gold.

Not sure if this is the right place for to do a feature request, but figured if it wasn't you guys would point me in the right direction :)

I know it's a busy time with Nocturne just around the corner, and there are plenty of other things to fix with the online client at the moment, but I have one small(ish) request. With the current limitations of the random card picking in the online client, I use an external card picker then drop the selection into the online client via the Select Kingdom Cards page of a game. This works great for the kingdom cards (even the Bane of a Young Witch) and Events/Landmarks, but doesn't work for Colonies and Shelters. Rather, those are options listed below the text input. I was hoping it would be possible to enter something along the lines of `Colonies` or `+Colonies` to change the option to "Colonies: Yes" and `-Colonies` to change it to "Colonies: No", and also be able to do the same with Shelters. The benefit would be that the card picker I'm using could then include those options in the card list it provides for a one shot copy/paste to prep my kingdom. It wouldn't necessarily save me a lot of time, but would cover those times that I space it and forget to set it at all.

For a long time I didn't use fan expansions because I couldn't think of a good way to properly integrate them into my collection.

Initially I was thinking of using some of the blank cards and writing a 1 on 12, a 2 on 12, etc. Then if we wanted to use a fan card we would just pull the number of stacks of blanks as needed to fill the spots (with appropriate number of cards for the stack [10/8/12]) and I'd have a print out of the card (probably 4 copies of each) that would be next to each person in number order for their reference during the game. The upside is that I wouldn't need to print nearly as many pages and would save a lot of space in my storage solution. The downside is that people will either need to memorize the fan cards or be looking at the reference when planning their next hand when they have one of the numbered cards in hand.

The alternative solution that I ended up going with was buying the second edition of base and intrigue, pulling out the new cards, then using all the duplicate cards as "backers" for printed fan cards; attaching the printed card to the dominion card with scrapbooking double sided tape (strong enough to prevent the printed paper from getting to the edge of a sleeve revealing that it's a fan card when next on the deck, but made to be non-damaging if ever removed). It does make the card a tiny bit thicker, but not enough to be noticeable in a deck stack. This does require printing off the full amount of cards, which ends up costing a bit and taking more storage space, but provides a more natural integration into the game.

Do any other people on this site use the fan expansions? How do you integrate them?

This looks very nice! I'm probably going to switch to your first storage solution soon. What kind of material did you use for the vertical seperators in the Dominion boxes and how did you lock them into position?

I had a large Lego set box from a non-collector set that I cut up to divide the columns. They weren't attached to the box, so on rare occasion a card might slip partway into the other column but it didn't happen enough to be a nuisance.

Individual kingdom card piles were separated with card stock (first batch was printed off, later expansions were just hand written on card stock)

Dominion General Discussion / Custom Storage Solution

For the past years I've been lugging around two dominion boxes packed full of cards (and more recently also an extra container for all the mats and tokens). Total weight was about 24 lbs, which was a bit of strain when going to friends' apartments on upper floors. With adding in some fan expansions and Nocturne just around the corner I needed to upgrade my storage so I could fit everything.

I may have overdone it a bit, but so far it seems to be working well.

Old solution:

New solution:

In theory this new solution has space to hold about twice as much as the previous solution. It's all solid red oak, with the dominion card back laser engraved into the lid. Given its size and weight I put the legs on it so it could be next to a table and not need to take up any playing space. Can't wait to add Nocturne to the collection!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a large Alchemy style expansion. Maybe some action cards that give +Potions, or cards that have two costs (e.g. 1 potion and 2 coins or 5 coins). I love the Alchemy expansion, but it's such a nuisance to play with because of limited number of cards that actually use potions. Or maybe there could be an event that allowed you to use a buy to spend coin to get +1 potion.
