Aah what a shame.
However I didnt always agreed with the way they organised the tournament, I really enjoyed playing in real life against each other.
So also not a big fan by replacing this with an online tournament, which is offcourse alot easier.

I dont think it would be a problem to find a game store who would like to offer their space.
The one big problem could be the material.

Is there a reason why your rating can drop while you won the game?
It happened in three games now.

Third round is against Loes (loesu), whose friendly, pretty exterior hides the Dominion beast that lurks within.

Loes lol'd hard haha. Great report Jeroen.
Good organised tournament and a deserved winner and you as a finalist also.
Loes was very pleased with her third place!
Nice to meet you all again.

LoesU heeft zich ook geplaatst voor de finale door met een 7 uit 7 te winnen van iedereen in de voorronde in uden vandaag. Ik heb het helaas niet gehaald maar ben er zeker bij 8 september.

Nice Report Stef. I am allready regretting for not participating :p
I do like that they make it a 1 vs 1 tournament.
So I guess I might be competing in the pre round in Uden.

Beetje jammer

I saw this message: http://www.bordspelmania.eu/evenementen/topic8946.html

Any guys attending?
The last dutch championships was really nice.
I expect Stef to be dominating there or Davio defending his title?

So if you have seen the link, what do you think about the pre rounds?
I think it will be a mistake. I don' t think much people will go to a pre round tournament.
Or at some location maybe turns up alot of people and at another location maybe 4 people. Not really fair imo

Yes, we Belgians have a fine beer brewing tradition. Personally my favorites are Duvel (strong pale ale), La Chouffe (strong pale ale), Gueuze Girardin (sour) and De Koninck (amber pale ale) when I'm thirsty :)

I don't like Hoegaarden and I've tried Westvleteren (n°1 beer in the world) but too complex for my taste.

Our board gaming evening is always accompanied by a fine selection of beers. Favorite day of the week :)

Yep, really liking the Belgian beers. I have been to the Gueuze brewery and it is was very nice!
My favorite is Delerium Tremens

If you got third in a round of the Dutch championship then you are pretty much screwed. So one game can mess up your whole tournament. If you loose in a 1vs1 you are still have a chance to make it to the half finals. (or be number one in swiss tourney)

If a three player tournament is desirable then I would suggest to play at least 5 rounds.

You could use more tiebreakers in a 6/7 round Swiss. Like direct encounters between the players and maybe start player balances.

I hope it is gonna be a Swiss tourney but I don't mind if it is gonna be a 3 player tourney. At least there is gonna be a tourney :)

Yep 8 rounds might be to much. But 6 rounds with 30-40 people is also not very handy. You will get a lot of tie scores.
So then you need another good tiebreak score. The Neustadtl score might not be veryy efficient in this setup.

Maybe 7 rounds :P

Ruud, how many players are you wishing/expecting?

Is there a problem with this? Who needs a final? I actually think this sounds good.

No problem there. I have been to many chess tournaments with a swiss system.
There might be some people who dont like the idea of missing a final. With a swiss you might allready know who will be the winner in round 6 or 7.

After the first round, you can just wait for the first two winners and they can play each other next while the losers can start their game immediately.
And any 2 more finished games will produce 2 new games.

This may go out of sync at a certain time, but you can get quite a few games in this way I think.

I dont think this is possible. Computer software makes it possible that everybody gets the right opponent based on score, startplayer and not the same opponent possibility. When to players already play each other there might be a problem or not a fair match up for others who were not ready.
You have to wait when every one is ready for a fair match up in the next round.
So 1 hour per round is what I think is necessary.
