I'm surprised nobody has mentioned choosing actions to topdeck due to scheme among a lot of played cards. That can be really annoying. I'm relieved that this works better in the new client.

I feel the lack of Gardens-enablers worries me. I'm sad that thief goes. It was a good Gardens-enabler in 4p. It could have been tweaked to still do that, and not suck most of the other time. On top of that, we get a lot more engine-enablers. The new cards also cost more on average. Artisan is very likely to stop a Gardens-centered strategy cold rather than help it. Outside of a Workshop-Gardens combo, will Gardens be relegated to consolidation price status in the base set? That would be a shame for such a cool card. Not everyone who picks up the base set, even today, will go on and buy other expansions.

Yes, I'm a slogger at heart. Thief-Gardens in a 4p game was my first win and then I was hooked. I will miss that combo.  :'(

The f.ds memes one is one cool theme. It should also be popular around here. And there are more forum-inspired themes waiting to be made. Please someone make an edge-case theme!

So how much weaker would cursers be if they where junkers dealing out say confusion cards instead? The problem with cursers is how often they are obligatory. Also several gives curses unconditionally (as long there are any left).

Beyond Awesome, two player bases, seriously? That is rather broad. I would rather use half-dozen (ux) personas. Take myself for example. I'm casual who mainly play versus bots to relax after work. That's still a big difference vs a kid playing 4p games in a social setting.

For now, consider me... wary.  When this was first announced, I guess I was expecting an actual company with infrastructure and a team of programmers, rather than... two guys.  I realize dougz did a lot for one guy, but let's be honest, isotropic was pretty small scale, and not really something you could reasonably mass-market.  So besides the fact that this is now the third digital Dominion implementation we'll have gotten, I'm leery of official Dominion being in the hands of two forumers with a high chance of being partisan.

I also have that concern. I sure hope you guys has contingency plans. Things can and do happen in life.

Qvist, could you make these lists available in some easy to parse format like csv?

One thing I would like to sort the lists on is the difference between the weighted and the unweighted rating. Or calculate the similarity between my lists and the official ones using say https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spearman's_rank_correlation_coefficient.

What are your reasons to want 1 card from each set? It matters, because the design challenge could be made more interesting with additional limitations. For exampe, I would pick 1 card from each set following that sets theme. This would showcase the different mechanics of each set for new players.

Nice solution. I really has to get better using Stonemason. My hand was Trusty Steed, Beggar, Madman, Princess, Candlestick Maker., and my gaining was not nearly as good.

This puzzle is inspired by the one from managore and a IRL discussion on ways to survive a lost knights battle that got complicated.

Goal: With 5 different cards in hand at the start of the turn, costing 2$ or less, get at least 13 vp in one turn. The draw and discard piles are empty. No duration/mat/prince/etc. cards in play. No potion-cost or Adventures cards/events. No platinum/colony. The kingdom is otherwise free to decide as long as it is a possible game state. Bonus points if you gain more points.

Hint: My solution buys 2 provinces and 1 estate.

I got to 11th place in beta campaigns, which is nothing short of awesome for someone like me, currently isotropish-level 11. Like someone before me said, I use whatever metric makes me look good. However, it sure makes me want to speculate on how I can be ranked about 1000 places above my best friend, whom I play evenly against. Are there any bias in how they update the scores? For the record, I'm still not done with the campaigns, I have played the first 14 or so in each area. As long as I start with equal hands and not last in 4p with an obviously 1-player advantage game, I win almost all the games vs the bots.

Yes, I was aware of the possibility of ending the game on provinces when I started my turn. I'm in the stage where I think about it, but it isn't second nature yet. I still needed points though and somehow I missed the correct play here. The not so obvious thing for me was rebuilding a province to the last province and then rebuild the same province for the win.

This is a 3p colony game where we all use Rebuilds. None of us are any good players, so mistakes happen and there are also a certain "follow John" mentality.

I could have posted this in the help subforum. Then again, this is not so much about the sub-optimal strategy, but rather being stuck in auto-pilot.

In my last turn I get lucky and get three rebuilds into my hand. Since I counted the victory points in this game, I know that I will win if I take at least 7 points and end the game. Not too hard since only one province is left. This is not what happens though. I play it on auto-pilot; Colony > Province obviously and even Colony -> Colony must be better, and so I'm not able to end the game. That didn't play out as I wanted. :o

It's an Attack type card even when it doesn't (can't) attack. Could you take advantage of it?
Has anyone tested how well the new reaction card caravan guard interacts with giant?

      First the important stuff. This have been already said; a +1 from me.

      • Reconnect.
      • Better time-out rules. Perhaps check the cumulative time above a given per turn limit. Enable vote to kick button after passing a time limit.
      • Automatch & Rematch.
      • Better custom kingdom building. This includes importing from logs and other text with a specified format. How do you try out designed kingdoms from design contests for example?

      Some other suggestions:

  • Enable us to give goko-coins to others. Especially if you time the release of the new expansion with the christmas season.
  • Show 3-player and 4-player games and stats separately. Some people doesn't take these games seriously.
  • Show the sets a "pro" mode could possibly contain. The game title is not a good solution.
  • Change the name of "pro" mode. It really is random, rated. Casual is custom, rated. As a new player I avoided "pro" mode because of the name.
  • Improve "pro" mode full random. I avoid the alchemy set because i have heard it doesn't mix well in full random.
