This is freakin' great!  What's the type of schedule where the chrome web store version will get updates?

I protect my pro rating by only playing pro with people I know won't quit.  I play casual mostly, and so when someone DCs, I just resign.

My casual rating is ~2000 points lower than my pro rating :)

I also play against my SO, when we are both logged into my account.  Somehow, when I play vs. myself (which you can do on goko), I lose rating points.  Goko math.

I'd veto Woodcutter, because I don't like veto mode so I always just veto the card I think least likely to be relevant to the game.  Since WV exists, people aren't going to buy Woodcutter because they are desperate for +buy.  If they want $2, they'll buy Silver.  So, woodcutter.

No, CC is Donald's house slave, tasked with belittling the common people with his insane contraptions.

So he's a rigger who assembles contraptions?  Makes sense.

I've found that when I try to play "pro" games on goko, I can't seem to get it to randomize shelters/plat-colony.  Is there anything special I need to do, or have I just had a weird string of province/estate games (I don't own all sets, just prosp + dark ages + 1/2 seaside, so one of the two should come up fairly often)

Well it would be easy enough to have them see if the 4th ending condition has been met and resign then. Resigning because you only have a tiny chance of winning is a different story.

Rather than have it resign, maybe it would be less jarring if the bot would recognize the impossibility of its win, and then just attempt to pile the game out (instead of avoiding it at all costs)

Regarding the discussion of Dominion Clones vs. legitimate new deckbuilding games:

What, in your mind, differentiates between a clone and an interesting new game?  What defines a dominion clone?

Smugglers doesn't actually say you have to gain it from the supply...

Simple question:  Can Smugglers gain a Spoils (assuming an opponent gained one on the previous turn).

In a recent game, the bot ruthlessly chapel'd down his deck until he only had a silver and pearl divers left.  Then every single turn, he played every pearl diver he had, then bought another pearl diver.  When the pearl divers finally ran out, he bought a copper to start building up again.

This also happens with Chapel + Spy.

Regarding it waiting while you switch tabs:  If you actually use a separate window instead of a separate tab, it continues to run.

Goko Dominion Online / Adventures still crashing
« on: December 14, 2012, 01:44:45 pm »
When I'm trying to play adventures (sometimes I don't have time to play with a human), often they don't work.  Once I get past the starting decks screen, often the window just goes black and never recovers :(

Clearing cache sometimes helps but often not.  This happens about 80% of the time for me.

I play nightfall and ascension on my ipad, and I don't care there.  But if its going to be PC only, you have to accept that I'm probably going to be watching videos of theory slap boxing the one eyed champ in the other window, and it would be super nice if I could just have the text log up so I can see what the hell you did on your turn so I can easily catch up.

Actually, all that's really needed is to run animations and sounds when goko isn't the active tab.  It's really annoying that they have a "hey, it's your turn to do something" ping, but that ping only plays exactly when I don't need it.

Dang, that's been an ongoing problem. I thought they'd fixed it. Have you tried clearing your cache?

Just tried clearing my cache, didn't fix it.

Here's the last few entries from the JS console log:
*** Campaign images preloaded. *** gameMapLoader.js:361
Creating new meeting room for campaign game. FS.MeetingRoom.Dominion.js:11772
>>>>> setTableSettings resp:  FS.MeetingRoom.Dominion.js:11772
Bot invited:

Maybe it is "inviting" a bot to the game, no bot is responding or something, and it gets stuck?

Anyone else having the adventures very inconsistently load for them?  Now that the difficulty is to "normal dominion" mostly, sometimes I play the AI when I think I may be interrupted, and I figure I might as well grind out those VPs.

But usually when I go to start an adventure game, after the kingdom/starting deck screen I hit "start", the screen blacks out, and it just sits there.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Well, Donald has stated that Goko can't create their own cards without him. I hope that still holds true. That being said, there are a few scenarios in which I'd be OK with Goko-exclusive cards.

1. Cards that wouldn't work in real life. Donald has said that this is the only way he would create online-only cards. Since Dominion is a card game, I'd prefer not to see cards like this, but I wouldn't be upset if they existed, especially if they did cool stuff.
...
Donald already made this card, it's called Black Market.

Again, this is all going to be fixed, I have put in the work there, and I recommend not playing the adventures until this happens.
Goko announced changes to Base & Intrigue level 2 and 3 adventures - are those the changes you talked about, or should we wait for some more?

Where are you seeing these announcements?  Do they have some kind of blog?

6. Cool 3d avatars

I think you can fairly state that Goko has 3d avatars.  Anything beyond that is pushing it.

You could re-word Cleaner to be kind of like Library:

Cleaner - 3
Action
Count the number of cards in your hand.  Then you may set aside any number of victory and/or curse cards from your hand.
Draw until you have the counted number in hand.  Set aside any victory and curse cards drawn this way as you draw them.
Discard the set aside cards after you finish drawing.

Goko Dominion Online / Re: getting those 3 stars
« on: October 16, 2012, 03:47:47 pm »
One thing I'd really like to see is for the levels (maybe at the end) to tell you what you need to do for 3 stars.

Maybe give bonus points for quick ending, then have (point differential + bonus) must reach a certain number?  Then, when someone gets 1 star, you can say "Try again and get at least X points for 2 stars!"

One of the coolest features of Goko to me, was the advertised ability to embed it in a google+ hangout so you can videochat while you play with someone, all from one window.  My main issue with iso was always that it didn't feel as social as IRL dominion, even though the gameplay was actually way less tedious.

How do I actually get this to work, or when does it go live if it isn't supported yet?

Because Estate is also considered a dead card.  So if you're trashing a Hovel by buying an estate, you're just replacing one dead card with another (thereby not decreasing the number of dead cards).

If you replace it with a Province, the province is not a dead card (It is winning you the game), so you are replacing a dead card with a non-dead one.

I have 3 different (free) randomizer apps for Android with Dark Ages (Doug Z's, Dominion Shuffle, and Dominion Selector).  Very surprised there's no free ios one.

Are any of these three updated for Dark Ages yet?

I'd like to play.

There have been reports of many security holes in your app. These are all listed in public forums, so I'm not revealing anything that sinister types could exploit that they don't already know:

1)  Apparently when you register, the site sends your password in plaintext to your email.  Is goko.com storing passwords in plaintext?  If so, how can I trust them with my payment information?

2)  It is possible to send script tags in in-game chat, and execute arbitrary javascript in other user's browsers.  How do I know I'll be safe when playing multiplayer or hanging out in goko.com lobbies?

3)  The server sends the whole game state to the client.  How can I trust any leaderboards or tournaments in the future if my opponents can see my hand and the order of our decks?

4)  The server doesn't validate what the client says it is doing.  How can I beat someone who opens Platinum/Platinum or plays 10 Bridges on turn 1?

More importantly, some of these flaws are web development 101.  Even if they are fixed, how can I be confident that other flaws aren't compromising my user information?
