Looks like UK retailers have received the first batch of Adventures...

After someone said we should play arena because lots of noobs on there I thought I would go back on- have always seemed to be much better at arena than constructed. Blizzard obviously wants me to enjoy the run- drafted three legendaries. And not all junk ones either- have a Tirion, trying out a Bolvar, and got Sneed's. Have two consecration and truesilvers as well...
So far 6-0, though not doing very well against this mage right now...

Thanks for that Rabid. Will keep an eye on the standard UK board game sellers.

So yeah, I knew Adventures was coming out, and I figured, like Guilds, it wouldn't be too hard to get hold of if I wanted it, and after the previews I was thinking this was a decent physical set to add to my selection.
Then... apparently I can't.
I've heard Europe is not getting published until September? OK that might be reasonable for translations, but why has the UK been forsaken?
And the US international postage rates are insane- given I assume- the giant box. Some enterprising guys need to start offering just the packs of cards and tokens and stuff on Amazon with respectable postage!

Anyone had any luck, or say, were there some if you preordered? That would at least let me be annoyed at myself rather than Rio Grande.

OK not sure why I was suddenly reading about Twilight writing there.
I looked on KS yesterday to see if there was anything that caught my eye (trying to use the discerning eye) and this is now .... 7M$+
What!
Too pricey for me though for what you get- looks like a simple filler/party game, I like the comics, but can't see how this has such mass appeal- I wasn't aware there were so many readers of TheOatmeal.

Other Games / Heroes of the Storm

I know there are some LoL and Dota2 players here, I used to play LoL a couple years back but just stopped.
Been playing Hearthstone intermittently and just got into the Heroes of the Storm (HotS?) closed beta and played just AI games, not yet dived in against humans.
Seems like will reward team play over individual skill even more than the other Mobas. I do like that is will probably play quicker, though I've heard that in closer games against humans, the game time will be over half hour, this is still shorter than LoL time (one of the barriers from just loading up for a "quick game" is the time commitment.
The pricing seems far too high for me, the real world prices that is. I would have thought that lowered prices would encourage more sales- there's no way I'm paying £5 for one hero.
Am getting a bit bored playing against the basic AI- it is really stupid and you can't really lose, so will probably dive in against humans soon, but would prefer to play with another (probably wait for my brother to play) the games rewards this with XP boost as well.

So there are a few very brief thoughts. What are other people's thoughts?

Also it is funny to see Raynor on a horse next to Illidan and Diablo.

Arena:
Have the Legendary Sneed's Old Shredder in play and couple other little things. He plays around and clears my board with the final minion attack. Sneed summons..... Kel'Thazad!! :o

I have to state my disappointment at the end of my second game, Vostok difficulty (one up from normal?), PAC, went for Harmony victory. I thought, I'll be prepared, so built up my army all around the Mind Flower, boosted miasma everywhere, built tracks everywhere, ready for the massive event that would happen when it was completed.......
Oh nothing happened- just count down the turns till it finished. AI didn't even try and fight me- they did, kind of, in the previous difficulty setting for the Purity victory. Though at least one of the AI did almost have a victory- he finished the gate and had settled a few of the earth survivors. I stomped my Xeno titan around to have a look, given there was nothing to fight.
Real shame- can't be hard to program a script to spawn a bunch of nests everywhere- where was the geophysical activity?

Still pretty enjoyable as normal, but does need some work out of the box.

Huh guess I got lucky on my go through- got both Divine favours pretty nicely placed to draw quite a few cards and then a turn 8- slime ooze thing + BoK + BoM + Argent Protector!

There is no way of/ I would think it pretty tough to  beating the Heroic wings without any additional cards I'm pretty sure... (someone will probably pull it off now hah (someone with too much time)) There are common only.
This link might help?

Much easier final time around!
Kel Thuzad bit disappointing really, though make sure you try emoting at him.
Had a bit of a shock though when trying to Alextraza the frost dragon- was this also in some other bosses?

They're getting tougher week on week- marginally smarter too. The powers are better still imo on the whole.
Suspect they are using our desire to stick with the previous weeks solutions against us, or I'm just sucking trying the Priest against the first Heroic guy.

I already beat Razuvious and the horsemen on heroic. I used priest for both. The first on took me couple tries, but essentially I built a gimmicky Inner Fire deck, and waited till it worked on the 0/7's they give you. The rest of the deck was loaded with taunts, Oozes and the Pirate that degrades weapons. The Horsemen are a joke. SW:Pain, Cabal, healing, Oozes. Also they have no minions in their deck, so Death Lord is good against them.

Think it was me being bad and not having the right rub of the green. I went back in after doing the Horsemen- completely easy I suspect unless you hit a bunch of redemptions and avenges I suspect or no SWP. Then went agains the first guy again and didn't got chopped up and managed eventually to get to stick a big taunt guy.

I managed to beat the three bosses on Heroic. Hooray! I didn't think I'd be able to do it so promptly.

Used a weapon-y Warrior for the Noth and Priest for the other two. I made use of the gargoyle against Heigen once I got board control and the the Divine Spirit (health doubler) to help me get that board control. Against loatheb, Lightwell kept me alive long enough to SW:Pain the starting Creeper. A few good taunts with health boosters, maybe mind control tech, and you can maybe get board control fast enough use the spores before dying to the hero power. Being able to heal yourself can really slow down Loatheb's onslaught.

Good shout-I went back to the custom Priest deck I had briefly tried before many attempts with Freeze Mage. You have to mulligan into the SWP really and cheap taunts, but yeah the health of the lightwell can keep you alive to get a couple of beasts up- used Divine Spirit on big health things/taunts, bit of luck but yeah much more doable than Freeze Mage. Freeze Mage/Miracle rogue does the other ones fairly easily- just don't play any minions lol

I was pretty lucky in my first game against the first Heroic boss- I went with my Control Warrior, and the 2-8 Taunt guys got killed and gave me an alextraza and then a grom, which I promptly Inner Raged and then next turn Facelessed in turn 6 I think.

I was thinking the Heroic hero power Rain of Fire was OP then I loaded up the third boss- 0mana double sap! Eurgh
Did it similar to Titandrake though thought I was toast when my second UTH got discarded due to too much card draw, explosive traps kept me in it until I could get tonnes of powered up beasts out

Looks great! Although FOUR UTH and Buzzards might be too much (with only one Timber wolf)

Shaman Run with a beautiful curve imo:
1: Forked Lightning and Lightning Bolt
2: Axe, Windfury, Ooze, Berserker, Flametongue, Owl, Loot Hoarder, 2x Mad Bomber, Pyromancer
3: Hex, Acolyte of Pain, Worgen, 2x Raid Leader, Unbound Elemental
4: 2x Yeti, Cult master, Dark Iron Dwarf, Spell Breaker
5: Doomhammer, Earth Elemental, Frostwolf Warlord (definitely better in shaman deck)
6: Ogre, 2x Elemental
10: Deathwing

Dominion League / Re: League evaluation

I have enjoyed the matches played this season. However a couple of thoughts, it is possible to play multiple games in one week or to play games spread out over weeks. I would suggest rather than insisting one match per week. Perhaps two matches every two weeks. Or just enforce and schedule the matches ie. 1 v 2 week 1. 1 v 3 week 2.
Also I couldn't find the justification for use of game points over match points. Basically if you get thrashed in one match (like I did!) then you can't win because you shipped so many points. Now the group still did come out right, in that rabid is clearly better than me. But I could have just told you that. Leagues (in sport) don't normally mind one off drubbings- you can still capitalise on other slip ups. Anyhow good fun and thanks to stef for organising.

Yeah in this kind of aggro deck I don't think the Sunfury Protectors are doing much- they don't have many good targets really. A tazdingo or 1-7 Taunt might help more against other rush decks. 2 x Arcanite might be a too many too? Perhaps an Upgrade would be better

After having all of my arenas go 3 wins or fewer (except a freak 7 win arena in my third effort-no idea how that happened), my last went 4-3, and now I'm in the midst of a 4-0 arena run!  I've been savoring it by going slow, so it may be a bit before I finish.  I'd love feedback on my choices.  Any thoughts on what is making this work out so much better, and also what probably would have been even better.  Here's the arena: http://arenamastery.com/OMDf  I figure I'm already raising my average, so anything else is just gravy from here on out.

It's a pretty solid draft- there are a good number of 2 drops and spells to give you early game aggression, that many players may not be able to survive. However there are maybe a couple too many 5s and not really any really big end game minions, so you will suffer a bit if you start getting to turn 10 later on more often. Gurubashi can often suffice though as an effective 7 drop 5-6

So excited about this deck: http://arenamastery.com/A1aD

I predict great things in store!

On the one hand, it's sad you don't have any Cruel Taskmasters to combo with Amani/Execute/Acolyte of Pain. On the other hand...everything else.

I think my only two "bad" cards are Nightblade (which isn't even that bad in this type of deck) and Silvermoon Guardian (which I've comboed with Warsong Commander twice so far to act as a poor man's Argent Commander).  Gnomish Inventor/Shield Block are nice but doesn't fit into the theme of the deck (maybe Jungle Panther was the right call ...).

One freakin' Mortal Strike and I go 12-0. Instead I go 8-3, each time with my opponent < 5 health but me unable to win a topdecking war and with no burn other than Nightblade. Most galling is my last loss, where I have 15 damage on the board, he's at 1 health, and his last three cards are Boulderfist Ogre -> (free) Molten Giant -> Defender of Argus GG

I feel your pain. Then again, Warrior is one of the worst classes in arena. 8-3 is damn good.

Although Warrior lack a little powerful class minions, weapons are great in arena, and the chance to draft 2 or 3 Flaming War Axe alone makes Warrior one of my favourite arena picks, probably only below Paladin and of course, Mage.

After a dire Priest performance I went Mage again, and am currently 3-0, now when I get a good deck I can normally cruise to 5-0, then it can be a bit dodgy as to if I keep making it to at least 8 (when I relax) and beyond, or collapse at 5/6/7.
Now I reckon this is pretty awesome, but then I have been wrong before, and it's too early to see from results- what do people think, predictions time!

2 Mirror Image, 1 Mana Wyrm, 2 Frostbolt, 1 Thalnos, 1 Doomsayer, 1 Faerie Dragon, 1 Owl, 1 Juggler, 1 Sorc Apprentice, 1 Youthful Brewmaster, 1 Arcane Intellect, 1 Spellbender, 1 Farseer, 1 Mind Control tech, 1 Razorfen Hunter, 3 (!) Fireball, 1 Poly, 1 Ogre Magi, 2 Water Ele, 1 Frostwolf Warlord, 1 Auctioneer, 1 Blizzard, 1 Argent Commander, 1 Flamestrike, 1 Champion.

Still haven't tried out any of the arena trackers, tempted by the automatic ones though.
