Dominion General Discussion / Re: Interview with Donald X.
« on: September 05, 2019, 04:12:13 am »
Hey Donald! Just wondering, will there ever be any good head-way made with a Dominion phone app? Been itching to play it on the go for ages now. Thanks heaps!
Yes, there has been no formal announcement, but someone is working on it now, a real company with published games.
Will it be possible to play against each other if one player uses dominion.games web and another uses this new mobile application?

Does the level history graph work for anyone?

I wonder if AlphaZero can learn Dominion.
It learned chess and go by just self play, the only imput was rules.
The question is whether randomness and hidden informatin is limit for AlphaZero?

I have not read the paper, it would take me a lot of time to understand that...;)

My guess it would be possible to create AI which would learned Dominion by just self-play. They have done it with Dota 2:

Because auto login prevented it to work.

Not really :) Incognito mode just shows login screen because in incognito mode dominion.games does not know who you are.

Incognito mode or using your phone or different PC could also work instead of clearing cookies.

Try this: First delete cookies, then go to dominion.games and fill your username and password but instead of "Login" click on "Kick & resign".

but as far as I'm concerned the only major thing lacking is Inheritance.

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: DISCONNECTS
« on: January 25, 2017, 05:21:15 pm »
#1 is still unknown.

It only affects some people, and I think there is actually a correlation to hiccups in the internet connection and this problem, but it isn't really clear yet how. Sorry, we'll continue investigating.

I can "reproduce" the disconnect issue on both Chrome and Firefox on my Android 6.0 tablet. This tablet only has WIFi interface (no mobile data as backup).
Game sends me to "Server connection was closed or could not be extablished." screen right after I disable Wi-Fi.
Client obviously knows, that something is wrong (because of the error screen), so it could try to automatically reconnect the wss:// connection every second until it succeeds. This could be in the background completely invisible to a player. So after I enable Wi-Fi again the game would continue automatically.
I think that solving this absurd case will likely also solve the actual disconnects which people are reporting.

Let me know whether you can "reproduce" it by yourself. I can help with testing the potential solution if you can not.

EDIT: This websocket example survives even if I connect to a different Wi-Fi: https://demo.kaazing.com/forex/

Or you can uncheck "Respect damiliar cards" table option.

The Undo feature is nice but if there was no new information revealed (eg didn't draw or reveal any cards, didn't play an attack that could trigger a reaction etc.), you shouldn't have to ask for permission. IIRC isotropic was like that.

This is why I was confused the first time that I tried an Undo against a human opponent (I had been playing bots and using it liberally).  I thought the point was that you would be able to undo anything that you changed your mind on due entirely to thought processes in your head (or more likely, misclicks), but not anything that generated new information for you.  Prismata you can undo your entire turn (including receiving damage!), but as a deterministic game of complete information, that's never a problem.  I would hope that it would be easy to determine exactly when more information is given to a player, even in a naive way that means forgetting that your opponent has a reaction and that your deck is stacked a certain way (from Apothecary or whatever), just so I don't have to be at the mercy of my opponent when I play my Crown in my action phase when attempting to use it on treasure (is there a better way to fix this perhaps?).
Stef plans it, just not enough time now.

Another test for "Are you sure" - playing Crown in your action phase when it's the only Action in your hand.

I just saw this on the previous page; I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this as a potential problem.  Is there any benefit to playing a Crown as an action while having no actions in hand?  Doesn't Peddler count it as an action in play regardless of whether it was played as an action or treasure?  Even if through some convoluted method involving, say, Bonfire, Cultist, and Villa, you return to your action phase, not having the Crown in your hand is pretty much always a net minus.  A very convoluted edge case I can think of is if you then draw Golem off the Cultist trashing, think you might hit Ambassador, and don't want to be forced to give your opponent a Crown if it ends up as the only card in your hand, and at the same time don't want to Crown the Golem so as to increase the chances of needing to Ambassador something you don't want to give away.  But that's so ridiculous to conceive of that I think having the game default to moving to your buy phase if you play Crown with no action cards in hand.  You probably should also be able to retroactively move to your buy phase by choosing to Crown a treasure even if you have another action in your hand.
See this big discussion

I  think Stef said, that is planned.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: The Wiki moving into the 2nd Edition
« on: January 07, 2017, 01:01:00 am »
Security doesn't really come into it (unless you do something really tricky maybe, I'm not an expert here). The implementation has to tell your web browser to render an image, and it can't simultaneously restrict access to that image.  You can look at the source your browser is rendering when you are in a game and find the path to the art assets.

I won't post any links here unless someone with authority says it is fine to put the images on the wiki. The images are technically openly accessible, so it seems like it would be fine, but I don't want to assume.
Shuffle it does no use that big resolution as Making Fun or Goko.

I don't get why dominion.games is still not on google "dominion online" search, not even on the last page.
It is first on "dominion online site:games".
Is Google ignoring .games domain in normal searches?
Any SEO guru here?

22
I put a link up on the front page of the wiki.  The formatting looks weird, though, and I'm not sure why.
There is also a link to MF in external resources.

23
Could we add this to the FAQ?

Is there an FAQ? I couldn't find one so I was going to write an unofficial one this afternoon.

The more pages that link to Dominion Online https://www.dominion.games the higher it will count in the google rankings. Unfortunately, MF didn't link over to the new one... And Iso still links to the MF page. Does BGG have an updated link to it?
I wrote an email to dougz to change the Iso link 2 days ago. He did not respond yet.

I'm located in Australia. I've made purchases with the card on a number of international sites with it (such Book Depository UK, Amazon US, and ABE Books) including at lease one since I tried to pay for Empires.

Have you tried "PayPal Guest Checkout" ?

Proceed to payment -> PayPal -> Pay with Debit or Credit Card
