Dominion General Discussion / Re: Allies Preview 4: Recursion
« on: March 03, 2022, 12:21:46 pm »
If it doesn't stay out, then how do you remember to skip your turn?  Is there a "skip my turn" token you take instead?
How do you remember how many Coins, Actions and Buys you have in a wacky King's Court Kingdom?

I usually just repeat my running totals aloud after each card is played, while narrating my turn.  I guess I'd have to constantly mutter to myself "1 skipped turn" while my opponents were playing.

If Lich is skipping your next turn, shouldn't it be a duration card?
It does not stay out, so no.

Note that Outpost would not have to stay out, but as you cannot play a Outpost during your Outpost turn, Outpost be a Duration is actually a mild buff (no risk to draw one dead card from your deck).
Same with Lich (but the other way around). If it stayed out it would be significantly weaker.
I think the main issue why Lich isn't a Duration is the weird rules implications that would have. If Lich is a Duration, that would imply that it "does something" on the turn you are skipping. But then are you really skipping that turn? And why would Duration-Lich activate on the skipped turn, but not other Durations?

I will likely end up leaving Lich out as a reminder to skip, pretending it says the equivalent of "Set this card aside.  On your next turn, discard it and do nothing else."  So there is possibly some edge case where my discard pile won't contain exactly what it should until my next turn, but it probably won't break the game.

But if it's skipping the rest of this turn, giving you actions is pointless.

Why isn't Old Map just +2 Cards?  Is only allowing you to discard the first one that important?
Because Fugitive is a $4.5.

I'm not sure how that explains why the two "+1 Card"s on Old Map are split.

COPPER MINE, $2, Treasure

While you have this set aside, you may gain 1 Copper putting it on top of your deck at the start of Clean-up this turn.
~~~~~~~~~~
When you gain this, set it aside. Put it in your deck at the end of the game.
What does "this turn" mean?  Is it the turn in which the mine was gained and set aside, or does it mean every turn that you have the card set aside?
Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Action/Treasure, could it work?
« on: July 29, 2013, 04:55:35 pm »
Maybe it would be easier to do it the other way:
Quote
Beer Wagon - $4
Treasure- Reaction
Worth $2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the beginning of your turn, you may reveal and discard this card.
If you do: +1 Card, +2 Actions
It loses the ability to choose to use it for actions after seeing what you get from other actions, but if you're trying to use it as a village you'd likely want to start with it.
Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Manna - Duration Card
« on: July 17, 2013, 09:58:25 pm »
I think the wording ought to be something like:
Quote
Put a Treasure card face-up under this card.
At the start of each turn while it is in play, choose one: put another Treasure under this card, or remove all the Treasures from under this card and put them in your hand.
This card remains in play until it has no Treasure cards under it.
I removed the "Set aside" wording since there doesn't seem to be a reason why it can't just stay in the "duration cards in play" area.
+3 cards or +2 coins and +1 buy
It's hard to tell whether the "or" or the "and" is in charge.  Is it always +1 buy and either +3 cards or +2 coins, or +3 cards or +2 coins and if you picked the coins you also get +1 buy?
I think it needs a comma in there.
    +3 cards, or +2 coins and +1 buy
And maybe even:
    Choose 1: +3 cards, or +2 coins +1 buy
Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Negative Cost?
« on: July 08, 2013, 05:32:37 pm »
You don't normally want to buy a $0 cost card, but you would buy this, making it overpowered.
The easy way around that would be to change the cost, and increase the extra money proportionally:
Some name $3
+1 action
+1 buy
When you buy this, +$5.
If it's worth victory points its type should probably be Action / Victory, if only so it's easier to sort out at the end of the game when counting up your points.  Or possibly make it Action / Curse if you'd rather see a half-purple than a half-green.
Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Debasement
« on: July 02, 2013, 10:29:25 pm »
That "until" clause means that if a player has a Trader in his hand and Debasement is played on him, he can choose to move the entire Silver pile to his discard before filling his hand with Coppers, or even causing the turn to go on forever by repeatedly revealing the Trader instead of gaining Coppers, even after the Silver pile is empty, so his hand will never reach 6 cards.  It probably also needs to say "...gains Coppers into his hand until he has 6 cards in hand or until the Copper pile is empty, whichever comes first."
14
How about this?  "You may choose an action from your hand with a cost less than $6.  Play it a number of times equal to the difference in coins between its cost and $6."
Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Event Deck
« on: June 24, 2013, 05:28:29 pm »
Donald X said that intrigue originally had an Event Deck, which had some things that affected all players. I think it's a good idea.
Scribe:
Action - $4
+2 Cards
Put an Event on your Scribe mat
---
In games using this, at the start of your turn, you may reveal and resolve an Event from your Scribe mat.
Does the player get to look at the Event card before deciding whether to reveal and resolve it, or does it move from the pile to the mat while remaining face down?
Does "remove a coin token from this card" mean to remove the token from the card and put it with the player's other coin tokens so it can be spent, or to remove the token from the card and return it to the coin token supply?
MI stands for the Masonic Illuminati, that clandestine cabal of stonemasons from which Guilds derives its icon.
Variants and Fan Cards / Missing Guilds
« on: June 13, 2013, 11:50:55 am »
Now that the full list of Guilds cards has been leaked, there's an opportunity to provide fan cards for the guilds that are mentioned in its description text but that did not get cards: Ironic Tiller, Shoemaker, Cheesemaker, and Cheese Destroyer.
Anyone up for the challenge?
No Victory card in in this set - that's a surprise.
In that case, we should also think of SO names. I suggested Sorceress (or possibly Sorcerer) as a Curser, but I'm sure you guys can think of others.
Sovereign might be a good name for a victory card that does something with coin tokens, since it could mean a rank of nobility or it could mean a coin.
I kind of want MI to be Milliner: "Take a coin token, +1 coin token per card you have in play with artwork that shows a person wearing a hat ."
As noted above, Butcher is a verb.
It could also be an adjective, as in "Tired of being teased by the guys at the slaughterhouse about his long blond curls, he shaved his head.  Now he's a butcher butcher."
