Dominion General Discussion / Re: Best Randomizer App?
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:57:23 am »
Dominion Shuffle is great if you want to customize the results in some way, but if you just want a quick, full-random selector like I do 95% of the time, then I recommend Dominion Card Selector by BM Software for its ease of use.  I have both apps installed, and both work with Androminion.

I got 500 of these sleeves when I was starting out with Dominion in April.  I needed some more a couple weeks later, but they were in the middle of switching suppliers so they had no stock, and I had to get some "regular" Mayday sleeves instead.  This is my observation on the OLD manufacturer vs. Mayday regular sleeves; the new manufacturer's sleeves might be different.

The Cataphract sleeves:
  • were consistently sized.  Out of 500 sleeves, only 2 or 3 were too narrow (grossly so, as if they were the "end of the run" or something), and there were a couple extras so it didn't really matter.  My experience with Mayday sleeves has been a typical failure rate around 5-8% per pack, with a couple extraordinary packs pushing 60-70%.
  • seemed slightly thicker/heavier-duty than the regular Mayday sleeves, but I have no measurements or evidence to confirm this.
  • have a "stickier" feel to them (a little harder to shuffle), whereas the Mayday sleeves are much slicker and the piles sometimes slide all over the place.

Again, I can't vouch for the quality of the current Cataphract sleeves, but the ones I got in April have been great.

A while back I threw together a rudimentary Android app to help track +buys and +coins during the action phase.  (Actions are easy enough to keep in your head if you say "X actions remaining" after each action card.)  If anyone's interested, I'll clean up the labels a little and post the .apk.  I'm not an Android developer so it is absolutely bare-bones and not fancy, but it gets the job done.

Advertisements / ultimate game storage solution on Kickstarter?
« on: August 20, 2012, 09:38:34 pm »
I just learned about this the other day, and I can't find any posts about it on this forum.  For anyone looking for a robust storage/transportation solution for their games (not just Dominion), check out this system on Kickstarter.

Disclaimer:  I am in no way affiliated with this product; there are enough "storage solution" posts here and on BGG that I thought I would pass it along for anyone still looking.

Dominion General Discussion / t-shirts?
« on: July 19, 2012, 09:57:50 am »
Given Dominion's popularity, I would have guessed that there would be a good selection of Dominion-related apparel available, but searching this forum, various BGG forums, and the web at large yields only a couple shirts (IMO they aren't that great) and practically no discussion on the topic.  There are plenty of shirts for Carcassonne and other Euro games, so I'm surprised at this.

Are there restrictions in place by RGG and/or DXV that prevent the production and sale of Dominion apparel?  It would be nice to be able to wear a shirt or something around town and meet other local players that I would otherwise have walked right past.
