One thing about deck cycling: GH doesn't improve deck cycling, it only keeps it constant while adding VP to your deck.  It merely replaces itself with the next card in your deck, so if you hadn't bought GH, you would have just drawn that next card anyway.  Lab on the other hand, actually improves deck cycling, for obvious reasons.

You could fix the pin potential by adding an option to not discard, at the cost of extra VP for you:
"Each other player may discard a card. +1 VP for each Victory card discarded this way.  For each player that does not discard a card, +2VP."

Goons/TR might be feasible.

Why?  With goons, you don't need the extra +buys and trade route's trashing is way too slow to get rid of the extra copper, especially considering you will be pretty far into the midgame once you have bought goons, played goons and then drawn the copper.

I suppose you could use hand gestures, but I like to let my opponent know verbally if they need to discard for minion or if I am taking the $2.  Additionally, when being tortured, I like to announce what I am doing and not just discard or pick up a curse in silence.  And as common courtesy, I announce every Council Room I play so certain forgetful friends of mine are reminded to draw an extra card (same goes with Governor).

So you could potentially add this card to your hand AFTER you play a tactician, play it, draw a lab and then play another tactician if you draw it with the lab?

So what happens if one of these is in play, and somebody Swindles a card into it?
Anything else, or sometimes nothing to replace the swindled card !
Change the word "gain" to "buy," and you're all set.
You shouldn't need to do this.  If this card is in play and another similar cost card gets swindled, the swindling player simply cannot give you this card (whatever the name is).  If there are no other $4's, you just gain nothing instead, which would be unfortunate.

I would say the Forge really helped your opponent.  You still had your 7 coppers and 3 estates and he had none, allowing him to draw more useful cards in his mega turn instead of drawing copper/estate.

I remember seeing someone say something in the main lobby chat about Bengoshi being a bad mannered player a few weeks ago.  It may be you did nothing wrong and he just doesn't take losing too well.
