Title: Interaction: Hermit / Governor

i just killed time with the bots before TV, and played this match against Lord Bottington.

Hermit, Wishing Well, Baron, Treasure Map, Band of Misfits, Governor, Inn, Laboratory, Market, Border Village
I realized that governor gives you gold. So maybe a hermit/market square gameplay could work. I got myself 5 Madmen before i cashed in. Much to my surprise i had 6 Provinces after turn 11. That's blazingly fast.
What do you guys think. Is hermit / Governor a viable strategy?

Have you read the article on Hermit/Market Square? That combo is so fast, powerful and resilient that I doubt Governor adds anything to it.

this is not about adding Governor to the Hermit / Market square combo. Look at the kingdom. There is no market square available. This is that governor can substitute Market square, to reach a similar result. I just wanted to hear your guys opinion, whether this is a fluke, or a real thing.

Well, Governor makes for blazingly fast games all on its own.  And it seems like with your thing, the general idea is to use Madmen for big draw so you can focus on trashing Golds for Provinces with Governors, and not "waste" any of your Governors for draw.  So to me this seems more or less like a standard Governor rush type game, just with Madmen to augment that already-powerful strategy, so in that sense I don't think this is a fluke.

My bad.  I just read "Hermit/Market Square gameplay" and thought it was there.

That could be fast.  Get lots of Hermits, a Treasure Map whenever you can, and trash Hermits after a certain amount of time, then boom.

You don't need lots of Hermits. If you trash your Estates with Hermit, 7 Coppers + 2 TMs, not connecting with just one Madman would already be pretty unlucky. I would get a Market and more Madmen first, to get advantage of the Golds right away. I think Silvers from opponent's Governors may get in the way of connecting TMs, so maybe more Madmen first is better.

Possibly, but do we need 4?
