Title: Adding Guilds Cards
Post by: werothegreat on June 05, 2013, 04:09:17 pm
I've just added Doctor, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have its set show up as Guilds.  The other cards don't have their set coded into their infobox - it just appears as if by magic.  What's going on?

Also - where do these infoboxes get costs from?

Oh, right. Work to do on the wiki. It seems the problems were already solved. But there's more stuff to do.

We need the card images.
We need the Guilds expansion icon.
We need some more articles, one about the coin tokens (mechanic) for example.

I'm adding pictures now.  What someone who knows more about the actual workings of the wiki needs to do is change the code so that $X+ is recognized as a cost.

Just let them in as $X, my bot will convert it when I run it.

Edit: Also, if you want to have fancy internal links with images when hovering, just use usual interwiki links like Baker, and the bot will convert them. (Have to do a bit of work to get Guilds working...)

Edit2: OK, I missunderstood the $X+ thing, but anyway, the bot needs to change and not the wiki. The wiki need an image and template for $X+.  But I don't know if the bot is so easy, because I can imagine there are some actual $X+ in the wiki which mean "a card that costs at least $X" and not "a card that you can pay $X or more for".

Just scanned for X+ through the wiki, and there are currently 3 pages with X+, that is Duchy, Duchy dancing and Sage.  No "$X+", because the bot would have already eaten these I think.

Late in the game, players will often choose to buy Duchies (even in cases where they might have 8+ to spend) in an attempt to adhere to the Penultimate Province Rule.

Duchy dancing is the phenomenon near the end of a Dominion game where players will buy Duchy, even in cases where they might have 8+ to spend, in an attempt to adhere to the Penultimate Province Rule.

The initial version was +1 Action, name a card, draw the next card that you haven't named for Sages yet this turn. So with multiple Sages it would get more selective. I pared that down to just drawing you a 3+.

edit: btw, the bot now knows the cards from the preview

Articles have been made for each new card, and it seems people have been adding them to the card category pages (as a note, I've also created a new card category navbox).  All we need now are better pictures, and playtime so we can get some strategy.

EDIT: With Guilds going up on Goko tonight, I'll get screens of each of the cards for temporary use, as the Goko cards don't show the artist's name.

Do you guys not remember who made those templates in the first place?? MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Quite sadly, the guy who has Dominion no longer shows up in my playgroup, and no one is willing to buy a new set, and Iso is down. So I basically retired from Dominion.

I am working on it now. Just need the $X+ images. (Looking at Schneau)

EDIT:
Updated Card2set and Card2cost templates.
For those who don't know, the infobox get costs and set names from those templates if none is specified.
Those templates are just exhaustive lists of the cards and their corresponding costs/set names.

Also updated the Cost template for $2+, $3+ and $4+
Just hard-coded them to map to File:CoinXplus.png
Icons breaking are expected.
Someone upload the images please. (Looking at you again, Schneau)

EDIT2: DStu you can start clearing the cost and set parameters from the Guild cards pages.

Ok, Bot is updated, but there was nothing left to do on the wiki.  But anyway, you can now write $2+, $3+ and $4+ and it will hopefully convert into the image.  You need a space or endofline after the '+' to not match with $2+P...

Edit: Also, \$[0-9]+?P now converts to Cost-template, for some reason that didn't worked until now (but also didn't appear on the wiki for some reason (which I think I now))

We seem to still not have a Guilds_icon.png file on there - the icon is showing up on Kingdom card pages (somehow), but not on the Guilds set page itself.
