Title: This Was a Triumph
Post by: jonts26 on March 15, 2013, 08:12:55 pm
Thank you Dougz for all your work. While we are all sad to see isotropic go, please know how much we appreciate your hard work. A triumph indeed.

Did anyone get his entire message screencapped or cut and pasted?

I think there's a chance Dougz might have saved it.

This was a triumph
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
Iso Dominion
I offered this game
Because, why not
Eentertaining all of you
Except the ones who ragequit
But there's no sense crying over every attack
You just keep on buying till you run out the stack
And you return to the lobby
And it's kind of like a hobby
For the people who have some free time

I'm not even angry
I'm being sooooo sincere right now
Even though you saturate
My bandwidth
And send me five emails
Every time the server dies
As you climbed the leaderboard I was so happy for you
Now the licensed site would like you all to sign on
Goko's out of beta
It's not like at GenCon
So I'm glad I made this
Running this site I'll kind of miss
For the people who have some free time

Go ahead and leave me
I think I will shut this server down
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you
Maybe FunSockets
THAT WAS A JOKE
I MEANT "GOKO"
Anyway these Guilds are great
They're so exciting and new
Look at me still talking
When there's coding to do
When I read the forums, I am glad I'm not you
There's Innovation to be run
Many other games are fun
For the people who have some free time
And believe me I have some free time
I'm writing python and I've some free time
I feel FANTASTIC and I've some free time
While you're losing I'll have some free time
And when we're down I will have some free time
Some free time
Some free time

Then this message appeared on the screen:
thank you for participating in this enrichment center activity!!

Also funny, the last line spoken in the chatroom was "I think Doug went insane, you guys"

No, I thought someone had hacked it, or maybe Dougz had lost it, or Dougz was a robot all along, I only searched on youtube after a comment in another thread where TitanDrake got the reference.

Thanks Doug and thanks everyone for the memories, the laughs, the late nights...the LONG games, the short ones, the turn 12 KC,KC,KC madness games...and the 30 turn Curse matches...I loved them all....NEVER made 50 damn it, but still consider playing here a success but moreso consider what all of us did and played on Dougs baby a victory for all!!!

REJOICE we all won !!!

Yeah Panda.

While I mostly lost interest in Dominion some time this summer and didn't play very much in the last 6+ months, there's no denying isotropic has taken up many many many hours of my life in the last 2 years, and pretty much every one of them enjoyable. <3 all around.

I once calculated how much hours I've spent on Iso. It was a big number and I only based it on actual games. With idle time it's even more.

I have so much respect for Doug as a fellow programmer. Sure there were issues from time to time, but they were more gameplay than technical bugs. The server code worked almost flawlessly and that's quite an accomplishment.

Doug's implementation just always gave me the feeling he cared about us and the game; something I've been missing on Goko. He listened to us, built a separate tournament lobby, ran a leaderboard, etc.

Still he's always forgotten to implement same starting hands for automatch. Now that it's gone I can finally stop caring about it.

Anyway it was a sweet experience all those months, even years.

I'm going to have to learn innovation I guess...

A bit tragic having this forum be a subforum of Goko Dominion, although I guess it doesn't make sense to have it as prominent as before.

So, have you deleted it yet?

I found it helps cope with loss...   ;)
