Hi theory, just letting you know some Mafia games haven't made it to the Mafia subforum, in particular MXXI (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=5514.0) and Blitz Mafia VI (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=5503.0).

I think that's because sign-ups for these games are still open. All games with open sign-ups will stay in the forum games forum, and when sign-ups close or the games start, they'll be moved to the appropriate subforum.

In that vein, RMM-5 (Shakespeare) should be moved back out here.  It isn't ready to start yet, and after at least one /out we no longer have a full player roster.  So we'll still need sign-up(s).

So I recently PMed theory (to get a game moved) and also asked about the possibility of having a board mod, who would basically take over the moving stuff around duties (and could be a person to call to deal with other various issues). Theory thought this would be a good idea, so... what do others think, and is there a person who springs to mind who would be good for doing so?

Robz maybe? Dsell?

They are (arguably) our most active players anyway.

If we are putting people on the spot, i would suggest Voltgloss and Insomniac if they want it !

If we need someone to volunteer, I can do it.  I have the index thread for mafia games anyway.

I'm also available to do so. I'm online more than any other player, so it wouldn't be an issue for me to handle.

I was thinking Robz or Galz might be good choices due to activity. I'd also be willing to do it myself.

OK, now I'm really confused, as I believe I have (or had) XXI.  See http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=5290.msg146427#msg146427

@Jimm - Since it looks like you've already made a significant investment in time in this, I'm completely willing to move.

Ashersky - how do we deal with this?  It seems like the clearinghouse for info and scheduling is not working.  What now?

I'd do it but I'm normally pretty absent on weekends so I don't think I'm the best for the job.

This keeps growing and growing. So I have a few suggestions.
Lately there are a lot of mini games going on. I don't mind them, but they kind of distract of the games I follow and play in the newest post.
So I think they should maybe get their own subforum, so I can ignore them.

Also Mafia has a sort of Games Queue and I feel the Non-Mafia games should probably get them too. A lot of players commented lately that there are too many games going on at a time.
I'm going to create a thread for that. Maybe theory could pin it... ?

Well, I'm kinda of an exception. I'm the Robz of non-mafia games. I pretty much auto-/in to everything...

Aaand, every now and then I realize that I've got 15+ games going, and I'll drive myself mad if I take on another.

For most people however, this isn't quite as bad - and honestly I HAVE been seeing new names joining the f.DS forums games community, even if the niche of game they are playing is outside of Mafia (perfectly acceptable!). As of right now, we're probably on a tipping point. I don't know how many more games can effectively run smoothly with the players that we have - BUT, opening up new* games (*By "new", I mean playing different games, not the same one multiple times) always increases the chances of drawing people in. So there's a fine balance.

I don't know. I'm certainly not opposed to a more organization, and lists are always good (and something of a specialty of yours!), but right now does seem to be a good balance to me. So much depends on the actual game itself. Gauntlet of Fools? You can easily have 2-3 of them running at the same time. Through the Ages? We've got two (although that surprises me some. Feels like a 1-at-a-time game). Pandemic? 2 games. Witch's Brew? Only 1. etc etc.

And.. yeah. Not really sure where I'm headed with this. Don't take MY personal "I'm in too many games" to mean much though. I would join a Diplomacy, or a second TTA or Witch's Brew, or a third GoF in a heartbeat.

What if I just let people make new topics in Non-Mafia Game Threads?  Or do you think single submission games should have their own forum?

Single submission/mini games having their own thread seems like a good idea.

I made some changes:

You can now make threads in Mafia Game Threads/Non-Mafia Game Threads
Owners can move their topics created in "Forum Games"

Please move your own games when you're done, and please make single submission game threads in NMGT.

I'm not sure if this came already, but I like to suggest to create a subforum for finished games, like a game archive, to keep the active games seperate.
I think that would help to keep the current games faster running.

Comments?

Did I fix this?  If you locked it it should have a "Unlock Topic" now.

This was discussed in the past and was eventually shot down.  Something about continuity.

I think we have enough games now that it would be worthwhile.  Probably separate finished games subforums for mafia and non-mafia.

Mafia probably doesn't need it, given there are fewer games.

You realize that post was from February and you manually unlocked the thread for me back then (I think). Anyway, I just tested and I can indeed unlock myself now.

I have a question that best fits here: Why do mafia games open for signups here and other games open for signups in the subforum? It makes no sense.

I think the answer to this is multi-part.

1)  Mafia games were at first the only forum games, so we just used the main forum for everything.  We just kept it that way after the subforums started up.
2)  The idea was that you got more readership and therefore more signups if you kept it in the main forum.
3)  Mafia Games likes to think we own the own forum anyway.
4)  Nonmafia Games should use the main forum, too, for signups.

Yeah, this is pretty much what i was going for. Having signed up for my first non-mafia game, I'm having a personal interest in this now.

We do newbie games sometimes, but not lately.  See if there's a normal game to join and go for it!

I see you are Mafia Mod of the year -that's quite a title if you ask me. I have a setup I would like reviewed and to make sure its not too boring for some players. Would you be willing to take a look at it?

Hey everyone, forum survivor season 3 is starting up in the next day or two and we're looking for 3 more players. It's a combination of mafia-style politics and a whole bunch of puzzles and games. It's less stressful than mafia, takes less time per day, and I found it to be a much nicer environment. Come on out, it'll be great!
