I possess the next player's hand. I make him play scavenger.
Possession means that I can see any cards he can, but not the other way around. So does he have to be able to see his discard pile, or can I keep it hidden from him as I go through it?
Alternatively, since it's technically his turn, am I forcing him to look through his own discard?

He is taking his turn. You're merely making the decisions for him.
You're not getting to look through his discard pile; he's looking through his own discard pile, you're just making the decisions for him and seeing all cards that he can see.

It's not just "technically" his turn. It IS his turn, in all respects except those specified on the Possession card:
1) you get to see any cards he can see
2) you get to make all decisions for him
3) any cards that are trashed are merely set aside instead, and discarded at the end of the turn
4) any cards he gains, you gain instead.

FTFY.
Don't forget the blue dog.

Okay, then I've got another "FTFY". The cards are trashed (which can often matter in Dark Ages games), then set aside.

Thanks for the corrections guys :)
