Title: Against 5/2 on Lab/Pawn board

I didn't like that my GF opened 5/2 against my 4/3, but I was first to $6, so that helped (I thought).  What could I have done better?  I was aware in midgame that I needed a pawn, but once I got one, it didn't help much.  I was short on money, obviously, but what else?

You should probably open Quarry/Pawn if you're hoping to match up Quarry's cost reduction with Pawn's +buy...

Turn 16 you bought a pawn you never draw.
If it was an estate you win on turns.
T17 I think you have to go + card + buy, if you miss then take estate + duchy.

With only 1 pawn the second quarry seems like a waste.
I think Silver would be better.
Possibly want an earlier Gold or Mine?

I think there is too much here to ignore the quarry, mainly due to the border village, so pawn/quarry seems like the right opening. The pawn can be played initially for a +card/+coin at worst, so it isn't drastically worse than silver at the start. It then becomes better than silver as you add more cards to the deck and use the extra actions from the border village to free up the pawn choices.
