Title: Connecticon
Post by: Captain_Frisk on July 13, 2012, 01:46:11 pm
It turns out that Glooble is going to this.

I'm thinking about it.  Anyone else?

I looked at the event list.  The only boardgaming tournament is an 8-round Munchkin tournament?   ???

Yeah - I just looked it over myself and it is less than impressive.  I think I'm going to pass - don't want to use up wife points to play munchkin.

Hmmm... I suppose you're more of a killer bunnies guy then, huh?  :P

I've never played that! Actually, as I've mentioned in other threads, I was such an amateur games person until Dominion. The only other games I played with any seriousness were Risk and Settlers of Catan. And those are dreadful games, compared to Dominion.

You do not want to play Killer Bunnies. It is an absolutely horrible game. The way it works is you play a mind-numbingly long game and then a random event decides the winner. All you do throughout gameplay is improve the odds that the random event chooses you as the winner.

I find Saboteur a more entertaining "random as all hell, want to kill all your friends at the end" game.

Saboteur's a pretty awesome game. Killer Bunnies and Munchkin on the other hand....

But it's hilarious!  I only played it once.  I got a sickening majority of the carrots, then one of my friends unleashed this virus thing that wiped them all out.  I managed to amass a new decent share of them and won in the end.

It's not a game you play competitively.  It's just for fun. :P

I totally agree that it's just a fun crapshoot game, but in my experience it takes far too long for such a game. I can have a quick, fun, luck-based game by playing Dutch Blitz. Or, I can have a quick, fun, strategic game by playing 7 Wonders. And since no one I know has really figured out a strategy for 7 Wonders, it's also a balanced game.

Dutch Blitz isn't entirely luck.  It's also reaction time and speed.

Could be worse, could be Flux

Fluxx* isn't it?

I've never played it, but -- 1000 Blank White Cards.

And I think it is actually a game of skill, but: Mao.
