Title: Double Tactician/Conspirator
Post by: Mean Mr Mustard on June 14, 2011, 06:05:34 am
This was a game where my opponent had a great start and had taken a lead before my engine clicked.  Strong Remaking saved my bacon in the end:

   --- Mean Mr Mustard's turn 14 ---
Mean Mr Mustard draws 5 cards and gets +1 action and +1 buy from the Tactician.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Conspirator.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$2.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Conspirator.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$2.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Conspirator.
... drawing nothing and getting +1 action and +$2.

... drawing nothing and getting +1 action and +$2.

Mean Mr Mustard plays a Remake.
   ... trashing a Conspirator.
   ... gaining a Duchy.

   ... gaining a Duchy.
Mean Mr Mustard plays a Tactician.
... discarding the hand (2 cards).
Mean Mr Mustard buys a Province.
Mean Mr Mustard buys a Young Witch.
   (Mean Mr Mustard reshuffles.)
(Mean Mr Mustard draws: 2 Conspirators, a Duchy, a Remake, and a Province.)

You should have had a really hard time against opponent's 5-2 opening with tactician secret chamber. Double tactician/secret chamber seems as obvious as Double tactician/Conspirator - and both can be combined.
As you've posted the log I'd like to discuss some of Mice's turns. I think he delayed second tactician way too long and then didn't even played it (for a second province).

turn 4:

Buys: Nobles, Village
might be ok to feed the chamber with mor then 7

turn 6:

Buys: Nobles, Village
Why not Tactician/Conspirator (with Remake instead of Conspirator as a safer but slower(?) variant)

He then bought Conspirator at turn 7 before Remake at turn 8 (which sounds strange) and finally doesn't play the double tactician at turn 14 (for Province/Nobles) going for Double Province.

Even more so with Young Witch out, and Secret Chamber being the bane. I think it was a missed opportunity for him not picking up a YW.

I've seen a guy open pirateship/warehouse in a board where I finished with this deck:
fishing villagex7, merchantshipx5, library, tactician, tactician...

On the turn my engine gummed up, i bought a colony from duration money to end game...
love tactician =]
