You also risk flipping the Assassin, which loses the game. I think the rules also state that the number you give must correspond to the number of words you're thinking of, so I guess you can be asked to verify which words you were thinking of and justify how they relate to your clue. Also, I believe you can say "unlimited" instead of the number, but I would say that generally it's very helpful to know how many words you're looking for.

The 4th word for foreigner was bolt (for Usain Bolt), bit of a stretch but Galzria wanted big clues so I wanted to go for it. Door was for bolt, ambulance and lock, not realizing jam was a risk with that clue was a bad oversight from me.

Since we both agree it's number one, let's go ahead and submit OPERA
So the question I think we need to ask is why Aida instead of any other opera. Assuming we're actually guessing why ipofanes had in mind, so far, like you pointed out, Aida is a love story. But I'm sure there are other opera love stories.
The two I had suggested, lead and line, are generic for any opera.
So which of court or eye more specific to Aida? I still prefer court on that front (eye just seems like too specific a piece of info, knowing the cover art of one version).

That said, if you feel strongly about it, I'm willing to defer to you. When I play in RL with my friends, we have a "benefit of the doubt" arrow, similar to the possession arrow in basketball. i.e. we can go with Eye this time, and the benefit of the doubt arrow now points to me, next time we have differing opinions. :)

Like, instructing the spymaster directly "(if it's xyz, give us this clue") is obviously forbidden. But I don't have any good guidelines for what you could say. I also don't mind anything people want to do, this is not so serious after all.

Boom is one of the hardest words in the game to pair with anything I find, and I kind of associate ranches (or westerns where you would see ranches) with dynamite, but it's pretty far-fetched. I don't think passing is a bad play if we get 3 blues here. We'll most likely have an extra guess somewhere later to pick it up once we know more.

OK, I got a "Definitely okay in my book" from Eevee, so I'm going with it:
Realistically, we need to get all 4, and we (probably) know that 2 of the remaining clues are for AIDA.
So if ipofanes cannot find a good clue for 3, he could find something for the other 2, and says XYZ: Infinity. That way we suspect 2 for the new clue and 2 for AIDA and be able to guess for all 4.

I think this should be clarified, at least irl if someone didn’t know the rules I think it would be fair to tell them. Quoting the rulebook:” English has many homonyms and homo- phones. E. g. night sounds like knight, but these two words don't mean the same thing.
Same-sounding words with different meanings and different spellings are considered different words. So you can't give knight-related clues for NIGHT.”

Writing out my clues in advance for the post mortem:
Sinatra 6: piano, luck, limousine, model (either role model, or because he probably hung out with/dated some models), life (he had a famous life), cast (I'm not sure if he was in movies but surely he was at least played by someone in a movie). I was hoping my team would realize bow was clued to with "Throne", but alas.
Pitt 4: cast (movies), button (benjamin button), model (same than sinatra), life (same than sinatra)
I realized the pit-pitt connection, but it wasn't my intention to clue in that direction, Pitt was given to include "button" and guide my team away from conductor and toward cast and life. Fwiw I would think that my team would know that I'm aware of homonyms not being legal clues.

I could see a thought process for mass, because identifying individuals from a mass of people is a thing, especially when it comes to mass surveillance. It's a bit of a stretch, but on the other hand, it's pretty much impossible to clue 5 words and not have some of them be a bit of a stretch.

I want to say there's a connection to The [Cloud]s, but I cannot recall and that feels pretty obscure. I'm weirdly attracted to [Play]/[Opera], but the clue doesn't help me really identify either specifically. There are probably other connections that I'm not thinking of here too... I could see [Charge], [Olive], [Date]... maybe [Scorpion] or [Air]?
