Title: Princing a Traveller
Post by: Ingix on February 23, 2019, 05:33:48 am
This question is to confirm the root error in a bug in Dominion Online.

If you Prince a Traveller, and it gets played next turn and it is then discarded at end of turn from play, two things should trigger

I think that whichever effects gets executed first, will prevent the other from doing anything. If the Traveller is first (re)set aside with Prince, the exchange effect can't find it. OTOH, if the Traveller is first exchanged, Prince has no card to set aside.

Is that assessment correct?

That's certainly what I would expect.

Yes, exchanging prevents setting aside, and setting aside prevents exchanging. And if you fail to set it aside, you stop playing it.

That sounds correct. What currently happens that goes against that expectation?

A player reported that if they Princed a Soldier on Dominion Online, the Soldier was being exchanged and set aside at the same time, and they got it replayed each turn with Prince and a new Fugative each turn (until they ran out).

Turns out online the Soldier is replayed each turn from its pile (which is clearly incorrect), but I wanted to check what the root error was. As I suspected, you cannot have both the set aside and the exchange effect succeed (I imagined that maybe the Soldier could be exchanged from the set-aside zone, that's why I asked for clarification).
