While I have not tried this idea (yet), I am curious if anyone has ever tried a 2-player 'variant', where 2 players have 2 different hands, where each player alternates turns for a 4 player setup. I think there could be various strategies of how you play and how you score. This could even be done with 6 player setup. Once I try this I will update this post of the outcome.

I haven't tried it but it seems like it would work. The only problem is that you wouldn't want to play attacks and hurt your other deck.
Would a 1 player as 2 player game work?

How about whenever you gain a card you may gain it to either deck? That might make things interesting. (Though you'd need to come up with a precise wording in order to cope with when-gain triggers.)
Also, would the winner be the player with the highest single score, the highest combined score, or would you amalgamate a player's two decks before scoring?

I've done it with various games. I'll admit to playing Canal Mania 1 player as 5 players, because no-one else wants to play. Sometimes I win.
I mean, it works in the sense that you can play through the moves, maybe in order to analyse potential strategies, but it is a less social experience and lacks that competitive edge.

I had not thought of that as a 1 person multiplayer benefit. Great feedback though.

Gaining a card to the deck of your choice is just going to have people make one of them the engine and the other a green junk heap.
