Title: Dominion: Allies
Post by: MrHiTech on November 05, 2018, 01:32:58 pm
Here’s one of my mini expansions: Allies are a sideways card type. They go in your sideways deck, and start in the supply. When you buy an Ally, it goes in front of you, like an Artifact, and you benefit from it while it’s in front of you. Another player can buy an Ally from in front of you, and then they put it in front of them. There is only one copy of each Ally.

I like Trapsmith. You might want to add the usual handsize attack clauses to prevent that somebody could discard down to 2.
Broker is the rival version of Canal (meaning that everybody can get Canal whereas only one player can get Broker) so it cannot literally be strictly better but Canal is nonetheless the benchmark so this is far too cheap.

Is Canal a fan card? If so, can you reply with a link?

A couple of syntax comments first: You need to fix the image for Royal Guard, it is not finished. For Trapsmith, capitalize Action cards. Question about Contractor, do you mean non-Supply cards like Imp? I assume not, and if not than the wording should be changed to match Black Market: Make a Contractor deck out of different unused Kingdom cards costing $2. Neat concept, can't wait to see more. Also, do you know how to add images?
Also, Canal is a real card, that the reason you have not heard of yet is because Renaissance was just released today. Go here: http://riograndegames.com/Game/1334-Dominion-Renaissance (http://riograndegames.com/Game/1334-Dominion-Renaissance), then click download game assets, then click the rulebook to download. Canal is a Project.

Also, not sure it's the best to have a type match another card's name, but not sure what else could work. Hireling is already taken as well...

Nope, it is a Project from Renaissance (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Renaissance) that costs $7 and does the same thing as Broker.

Ok. Do you think $5 or $6 would be a good cost?

It is. Only half the link is working though. If you scroll right you’ll see that half the link is black, just text. It isn’t working right.

Odd. Anyway, Henchmen is good.

Neat concept, can't wait to see more.
The reason there are only 5 is because they were originally a kingdom pile of all of them (all 5, only the top card could be bought or gained, like knights). Then I decided to make them sideways cards. I will make more, but that’s not exactly at the top of my to do list.

It's not clear how the henchmen-attacks work. You say they "count" as attacks; but Moat clearly only refers to "When another player plays an Attack card". Henchmen are never played. So when would you be able to reveal Moat? The 2 Henchmen-Attacks both have something that happens "at the start of your turn", so can you just reveal Moat at the start of an opponent's turn, if that opponent has that Henchman in front of them?

It's probably best just to not give them the attack type. Raid (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Raid) and Ill-Gotten Gains (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Ill-Gotten_Gains) work fine without it.

Yes, you’re right. Fixed.
