The dis- and reconnection should be displayed, and commenters should be informed that opponent doesn't hear them.

In order to turn ShiT off, all you have to do is close the browser tab.

I just put a post-it over the chat window at the first sign of assholery.  I do wish I could mute abusive players -- or publicly shame them, so that others can add them to their ban list without have to be subject to abuse.

So I don't see crap like this until after the other player has disconnect-resigned.

I personally like the reconnect feature. It's one of the best improvements over the previous client.

The easiest way to mute the chat is to type /who a few times and then scroll up. When your opponent sends another message, the chat doesn't scroll down. Alternatively, you could also type anything and scroll up.
