I hear it's now a meme. Has it really been buried away to all but the most nostalgic of Dominion players?
Do folks at least donate their Scout piles to others? Do the potential recipients even accept them?
Do you at least use them as proxy cards? If you lost a few Curses?
Otherwise, if you want to handicap good players, I suppose you can always require them to buy Scouts, else, they automatically can't win, regardless of their score :P As part of the "teaching game" newbies automatically LOSE if THEY buy them :D

I still play with Scout and the other Intrigue v1 cards. They were fine.

Scout is fine, why do people complain about Scout? They can't all be the best (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/2/2a/Coin4.png/16px-Coin4.png) card that ends up acting like a Ruined Village (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Ruined_Village) more often than not.

I think it's more accurate to say Scout used to be a meme.
But Scout is transforming into something new. Scout is a legend.
-
No, it's still a meme, but what's Scout? Did you mean Scouting Party?

IIRC, it's literally the worst card in the series.
I didn't mind it either. I liked revealing Great Halls, Harems, and Nobles with it.

Scout was fine, I don't understand the hate on Scout. Yeah it never drew you good cards, but it made your next turns better by putting those nasty Curses and Victory cards into your hand! It's like playing a Night Watchman really. And it also can combo with Shepherd right there, and then you can play another Scout to draw them all back up! Scout was a fine card, people just made fun of it because the art was bad, it never needed to be gone.

Something that adds limited coins for revealed Victory cards would be swell !

Quite a few articles on that. But I still miss it.

In hindsight most of the cards in Intrigue and Base v1 that have been cut out were pretty lackluster and had either little moments to shine or just felt pretty tedious. I still play with them too, but Scout is almost never useful. Thief is rarely useful in 2 player. Adventurer is, bar something like Chapel/Treasure Map-shenanigans, completely useless. Saboteur can be good, but it is never fun.
On the other hand, Woodcutter is all right. Tribute is fun to play. Feast has some cute tricks. Chancellor is all right if you forget about Scavenger existing. But Scout, in all honesty, it was just a case of a card that looked all right on paper but didn't work out, just because it is too weak even in the situations is should shine. At least in those situations something like Coppersmith actually IS good.

Scout's idea works perfectly fine on Patrol and would probably also work with some other vanilla stuff attached to it, e.g. +1 Action and +1 Coin / +1 Card.

Vagrant is basically a cantrip Scout that only looks at one card. So you could say there are two fixed Scouts.
