The video is indeed weird. But the promoted thing, a German-Austrian Dominion Championship 2019, actually sounds kind of fun. Players are required to represent one state (16 in Germany, 3 in Austria), and the best 4 players from each state will be invited to the final tournament.
Guess I want to take part now. ???

Yeah, I already saw it on their facebook wall and was mocking how "accurate" it depicts my boardgame evenings. Because every time I buy a Village, I get incredibly excited about it and show it to the other players so they can see my awesome achievement. And if somebody plays a Militia, my joy knows no bounds.

You can see the people in the video have absolutely no idea how you play Dominion. If you claim to be happy about something you don't know about, who's gonna believe you? Maybe reveal a Moat and smile about that instead of Village, Lady?

Wait, what? Are you telling me you don't use those? Why are they even there, then? It's even there in the rulebook (translation by me): "Use the randomizers as the bottom card of each kingdom pile. If somebody buys this 11th card, other players will be able to see which card they hold in hand. This matters for cards like Gardens."

As with most ads, the majority of it has nothing to do with the thing its advertising. But since I don't speak German, I don't know whether the narrator is talking about Dominion or beer.

Why are you guys trash talking them so much? They clearly know some advanced strategy, since chainmail guy bought a Villa (because how else would you play an Action card after Treasures).

They play with the old rules where trashing was not optional and he needs the Mine to activate his Conspirator but does not want to trash coppers because of Well.
So he played the coppers, bought Villa, played Mine (with +Action token) and will now play the Villa and Conspirator to activate his mega turn.

As far as I can see the kingdom is cellar, workshop, woodcutter, smithy, remodel, market, moat, village, militia, mine.
That's the first edition "first game" recommended kingdom, which sort of makes sense seeing how they're playing.
Furthermore, why are there seven boxes of Dominion on the table if they're only playing base? I'm not entirely sure but I think, in the background, the red one is adventures, orange is alchemy + cornucopia, blue is seaside, yellow ones are prosperity and empires, and the gray ones are base and intrigue. That's what I can find on amazon.de at least. But then why is there also a base set on the other end of the table?
Also they forgot to add curses to the supply.
And I can't find a single moment where there's anything on the trash mat. Wait, shouldn't they have a trash pile card if it's first edition? They ARE using the first edition treasures and victory cards.

The video was far less strange than I expected from reading these comments. I'd say that the point of the video is to present something interesting and exciting-looking to potential players. They aren't going to know or give a crap if the people are playing it wrong. Sure, they could record a realistic game where everyone plays straight-faced the whole time. That looks fun.
However, since this is promoting a tournament, that point is kind of moot.
