It doubles the coins you have. Potions are not coins.

It does literally what it says, which is to double your (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/6/6d/Coin.png/16px-Coin.png). It has no impact on (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/7/7a/Potion.png/9px-Potion.png), (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/8/81/Debt.png/18px-Debt.png), or (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/9/92/VP.png/16px-VP.png).

It might have been interesting to have cards that let you take (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/8/81/Debt.png/18px-Debt.png) for an effect.  Like, "You may take (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/f/f5/Debt3.png/18px-Debt3.png) to do that again" or something.
