I posted this over on BGG as well, but thought I might get more hits here.
I realise that a lot of times people ask the hypothetical question about which game to bring to a deserted island. In our case we live on a small sail boat, we're literally going to do the deserted island thing... We have intrigue, sea side and prosperity at the moment. I'm quite keen on adding the remaining expansions.
So given that we have limited space and we're potentially only taking one game to the deserted island, what makes this game so great and so replay-able?
Obviously I can do the math and see the logic, I thought it would be fun to get some opinions...

More expansions? You're gonna need a bigger boat.

I figured it could double as ballast... Also in a life or death emergency it could be used to make a fire :P ...
Everything on board needs to have multiple uses or it's not allowed on...
-
Well, the math and the logic are the reason why.
-
The awesome flavor.

After you've burned all your supplies and clothes first, of course.

The high degree of attention paid to text centering.

You're welcome.

Replayability. There are more possible combinations of starting kingdoms alone, than there are total number of games that have ever been played.

Make sure you have a good storage solution! You don't want a crap ton of empty air going with you.

Well of course I would take Dominion to an island because I'm essentially bringing both pirate ships and ghost ships if I ever wanted to get off said island. I would probably leave any estates I have with the island though so I could still get the points for them at the end of the game/my life. I'd probably leave scout there too so he can, you know, scout it out. I guess that's kind of his thing.
But what makes the game so great for me is of course the endless combinations and never playing the same game twice. There's usually no one best way to play the game and there are always new strategies to try out. I've personally found that it's still fun whether I'm winning or losing, and that it's fun whether you're a beginner or an expert because you're always trying new things and learning new tricks!

What is this "Scout" you speak of?

Probably meant Scouting Party.

Probably meant Scouting Party.
Yeah, that's the only logical explanation.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that one.

Or maybe Patrol.

Dominion consists of "minion", which itself is great!

There are two famous quotes about chess. "Life is too short for chess." And in reply, "That is the fault of life, not chess." I don't think Dominion passes that bar for me, but it's damn close.
