It's true! I didn't think the day would come. I picked 'Keizerrijken' up this afternoon. :)

I got mine the week before X-mas. Was a bit disappointed to see that the tokens are made of cardboard instead of the 'promised' metal  :-\.

Eventualiteit I bought the english version (which had metal tokens) and switched the tokens. So now I have an English version with cardboard tokens for sale. Anyone interested ?

Without the option of using chits, there might be no Dutch version. Foreign publishers balked at the expense of the metal tokens.

Were the French offered the use of cardboard tokens?

Probably. I'd have to ask Jay to know for sure, but I mean, if they said "no thanks, metal too expensive," then it would sure be a surprise to me if he never mentioned cardboard to them.

... how did you get it before Christmas? The local board game store here only got it last week, they said.

I really don't care if the tokens are made of metal, cardboard, plastic or licorice. Well, maybe not licorice. Although that would be tasty.

When will the base game be updated in Dutch? I recently played it with a friend of mine who got his game for xmas. It featured treasures with art work but still had the old base game cards. Will the Dutch base game be updated at all?
