Title: Tournament and Prizes
Post by: mzdom on December 28, 2016, 09:32:15 am
Hello
I was playing the other night with friends and I played a Tournament. I did not have a Province in my hand nor did any of my competitors. So I drew a card and a had a coin to spend. The card I drew was a Province. So the discussion is can I now discard the Province and gain a Prize? We decided no because you have to work your way down the card but of course I was not satisfied with that decision :(. I tried to search for the answer but had not success.

Hey!

No, you can't, because the order of actions on the Tournament card is made this way, that you first can discard a Province and do all this stuff and only then you draw a card.

It's noteworthy that if you do have the Province in your hand, you usually prefer it this way because then you get to draw and play the Prize you just gained on the same turn.

Another noteworthy fact, is that if your +1 card token is on Tournament and you draw a province with the first card, then you can claim your prize, since  the tokens resolve before anything written on the card...
