It's very interesting to read the comments from the set designers and then review the game to see how it actually played out. I wonder what would have happened in game 8 if one of the players had attempted to go for the mega secret chamber turn that Geronimoo had included in his set.

I'm happy that one of my sets made it into the final 16 though I'm disappointed I didn't get to see how it would have played out.

I thought whoever gets to the final would see the possibilities of a Crossroads powered Secret Chamber mega turn with the set I designed (n°8). But it's really hard to see and even harder to set it up on the first try.

Basically the strategy is:
-buy Worker Villages with $4
-buy Estates/Crossroads with $2 and aim for roughly twice as many greens as Crossroads in your deck
-once you're drawing your deck, buy a Secret Chamber
-buy more of the above and eventually play multiple Secret Chambers in one turn using the greens+Crossroads to re-draw all the discarded cards generating a mega-turn

The deck does NOT want treasures or any other cards, so starting off with a Loan is ideal, but if your opponent goes for super agro Ambassador into Cursing you, you need to open Ambassador yourself to slow the other guy too. Just NEVER Ambassador away your Estates!!! The Estates that get Ambassadored your way are actually speeding up your deck building!

Here's an example game:

I am the person geronimoo crushed in that game. Very cool that you inserted such a powerful (and hard to see) counter to classic ambassador play. I got my ass handed to me in that game, but it was quite fun to play (though to be fair I did win the game before this one where he tried to forgo ambassador entirely)

I have a strange question regarding this. I notice my kingdom isn't on the list, yet I definitely PMed it to theory. I also PMed theory asking why it wasn't on the list and if there was some kind of problem with it. And theory is a pretty nice guy, so I'd normally expect a reply, even if it was just 'you never sent anything to me'. But I didn't get one. Which makes me wonder if theory got any of my three PMs I've now sent.

I'm not too annoyed by it, but I'm a little disappointed to not even be on the list or get a reply, and it'd be nice to know if it's just something strange with the forum software or whatever.

(For the record I think I'll keep my kingdom quiet for now. Might be other oppertunities to submit it for competition after all)

The notes for WW's submissions are all the same after line 84.

I had no notes for my kingdoms because I wanted them to speak for themselves and I'm quite a bad player compared to a lot of folks around here so I'd probably be way off the mark with my analysis.  I submitted one "serious" kingdom with what I thought was a lot of different strategic options due to lots of good cards and combos that would require completely different setups and one "fun" kingdom where the path to go was pretty obvious but I thought would lead to a rather non-traditional game and was rather surprised that the second one made the cut for the finals.  Since my other submission used all sorts of ideas that came up in various other ways in the finalists, I really had no idea which sets were mine until theory sent me a PM (which I didn't even read until after I had made some comments about my own submission - oops!).

It started out as all green cards and no actions, but that looked really lame.  I knew some actions would be needed to make the game interesting so I cut the green cards that really didn't do anything and added Crossroads, Baron and B-crat since they worked specifically with green cards in some way.  Loan was added as a cheap trasher that didn't use up an action that helped fuel Baron/XR by getting rid of unneeded cards; with Baron for cash you need not get any Silvers, although it would potentially conflict with Harem.  It also conflicted with B-crat (I can't recall if I knew that when I submitted it though), an attack that I thought would be extremely strong on this board given the dependence of deck on XR drawing.  Apprentice was the last card added, and was just a comedy option: a normally strong card you probably want nothing to do with on this type of board.  It might be useful to help jump-start XR after being hit with B-crat a couple times, and if you had your own B-crats it would would have a source of fuel, but was mostly a joke.

As to the exact mix of green cards, and the lack of Scout, I can't really say much because it wasn't really well thought out.  I'm guessing that if I had taken more time to consider each card like I had for the more serious set I might end up with something even more popular, but who knows?  I certainly did something right, but perhaps the eclectic mix of cards without any obvious reasoning behind them appealed to some people more than the highly calculated submissions of others.

Oh dear!  I don't see it at all in my PM box.  That makes me very sad!  I hope I didn't miss out on any other communications.  I did not respond to most of the kingdom submission PMs, but if you specifically sent a message asking if you had received it I would definitely have responded.

In the future, if you ever message me and don't get a response, feel free to email dominionstrategy@gmail.com

The notes for WW's submissions are all the same after line 84.
Fixed.

Thanks.

For reference, I was using Firefox (I think) and used the PM button under your avatar. I don't know exactly what might have caused the problem otherwise.
