Title: Isotropic feedback?
Post by: hughes on June 23, 2011, 10:07:53 pm
Is there a more efficient way than posting here to give isotropic feedback?  I was wondering if there's anyway to add some preset kingdom cards to isotropic.  I'm going to be teaching some people to play in the future and I'd like to start with 'first game' or some such from the instruction book.

In fact, this isn't a place for isotropic feedback at all :P

Check the isotropic FAQ for Doug's email address.

Doug has a direct contact email in the FAQ (http://dominion.isotropic.org/faq/).

But the FAQ also says:

I made my own expansion set. Can you add it?
Sorry, but there are a lot of fan-made expansions out there and I don't really have the time or the inclination to implement them all, and I don't really want to pick and choose whose I do. (If I run out of other things to do I may change my mind about this...)

I think he just means requiring a specific set of 10 real cards.

There is a card requirement box that just works.

Has anyone heard back from Doug about anything recently? I've found him very difficult to contact since the earliest days. He wrote back to my first two emails to him, but since then, nothing. I've been curious if I was just too nitpicky, or if he got swamped as it got more popular, or what.

And I sure wish he'd make an account here! Then we could have an Isotropic feedback subforum, and it would be the right place, and we could have nice public discussions about things instead of privately flooding his inbox.

He does have an account here, actually.

I've never heard back from him by email, but I did get a response to a geekmail once a month or two ago.

I emailed him not to long ago and he got back with me right away  ::)

I agree that the preset kingdoms would be a nice addition. Sure, you can specify them using the text box, but that's a lot of typing for a game where we're used to just clicking on stuff. Plus that requires looking up which 10 are in each set.

I heard back from him about an email I sent him late last year, maybe early this year. I also sent him one about a month ago which I did not hear back about, however the change was implemented a few days later anyway, so it's all good.

I'm here.

Some of both.   ;D

Hey, awesome! And yeah, I'm really nitpicky >_> Sorry bout that, it's just cause I love Isotropic so much and want to make it even better!

Do you agree that a subforum for Isotropic suggestions/bug reports would be a valuable thing to have here? You could link to it in the 'found a bug' section of the FAQ so that people come and see whether everyone knows about an issue already before they just spam your inbox again, and it would probably help give you a sense of which features the community as a whole would like, rather than which ones the vocal minority who bothers to email you think are important.

Yeah, a forum here for feedback might be useful.  Though I don't promise to make any particular changes, no matter how many people here might agree they want them...   :)

I think the only preset I've ever played with was 'first game' from the base set rulebook.  It has a little bit of everything you need to get someone's feet wet with dominion.  On the other hand, I'm not sure how good it would be to teach someone to play on isotropic anyhow.

Doug/theory: Yes, an Isotropic forum here seems immensely useful, even if not for upstream feedback.

The General board has a much larger post count than anything else, and several recent threads there are purely isotropic related. They could be moved neatly to their own board.

I agree, and done.
