Title: a fan card my friend came up with
Post by: LibraryAdventurer on July 31, 2016, 09:23:43 pm
So I got my friend into playing Dominion, and we played with some of my fan cards so he wanted to make a fan card too. So here's his first fan card. The only part I added was limiting the attack to players with at least 4 cards in hand. Do you think it's balanced? Is it worth $6? He had originally cost it at $5, but I told him it was too strong for $5, so we changed it to $6.

Quote
Canines
Cost $6 - Action - Attack
+$1.
Each other player with 4 or more cards in hand discards a treasure or victory card. If any victory cards were discarded, take 3 coin tokens. Otherwise take 2 coin tokens.

"...(or reveals a hand with no Treasure or Victory cards)."

+$4 seems fine at $6, so does +$3 with Cutpurse+, but of course better because coin tokens, but slightly worse because you don't get to choose which and maybe your opponent/s will have some choice.

Seems fairly balanced. The question is, is it fun?

It's weak but most terminal coin is.
Seems pretty balanced and would be a decent money enabler.
+1 coin at the top seems weird and could be changed to a extra coin token at the bottom.

It has been so far. We've played I think 3 games with it.

and one of them was that game where he got relic and ghost ship from the black market (and this was before the limitation on the attack was added). He played ghost ship, then canines (making me discard a gold), then relic, so I started with 2 cards in my hand and my -1 card token. BUT I had a haunted woods in play from the previous turn and one of my two cards was a lost city, so I started by removing the token and drawing two cards and bought two provinces that turn to win.
