Title: Allo, former lurker here
Post by: quazerflame on June 11, 2016, 11:06:49 pm
I'm quazerflame. I used to simply look at this forum without participating, thought I'd actually try to have a voice. So hi. :)

Dominion League is strictly better than forum games.

The forum games are far more skip-able then people think. Like, 90-93% of the time.

I keep seeing that particular range of percentages on the site, 90-93%. There a joke I'm missing?

There is, but it was one of the uglier moments in modern forum history. Basically a new guy came on the forum claiming that King's Court was better than Gold 90-93% of the time. What he said got misinterpreted, some words flew and he got banned and the thread got locked. We don't tend to play nice with new people.  :'(

Welcome to the forum!

The 90--93% range is far more skippable than people think.  True occurrences only actually fall into that range 90--93% of the time.

Joke explaination team to the rescue!
The roots of this meme raise from one of the darkest pages of forum.dominionstrategy.
I'll tell you that story as I remember it, for I was there, and saw the darkness that resides in the hearts of men.
Once upon a time a new user posted a game report thread about how "KC is far more skippable than people think". The tone of his following posts was at times a bit self-glorifying and condiscendent, and this generated a few stingy answers from some forum regulars. The conversation got more and more heated, while some other posters were making fun of the pointlessness of discussing exactly how skippable King's Court was. (people were starting to talk percentages, and 90-93% was an estimate of how often you go for King's Court)
The user in question took this last group of comments as personal offenses, civilty declined, and the thread was locked and the user asked to be banned, and he was satisfied, even though he didn't really make any bannable offence that I can recall.

If you want to live the whole story almost as if you were there, you can touch this script of remembrance:

Well, 90--93% of the time.

90-93% of the time is still most of the time :)

I never got an answer on the topic I initially asked, btw: How do I type those coin/victory/other symbols?

Explains meme, uses another meme. Great. I'll just link to the wiki  (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Dominion_Strategy_Forum#Dominion_Play.2C_Ethics.2C_and_Conventions)for this.

Also, were is my civility: hello and welcome to the forum :D

Install the plugin for Chrome, and then when you are in the message editor, you will see icons that you can use, like this:

(http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/d/df/Coin11.png/16px-Coin11.png) (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/6/60/Coin6star.png/16px-Coin6star.png) (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/8/81/Debt.png/18px-Debt.png) (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/7/7a/Potion.png/9px-Potion.png) (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/9/92/VP.png/16px-VP.png) (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/2/21/Debt5.png/18px-Debt5.png)

You can also, I suppose, type them out explicitly.  For example, the money symbol is [$x] for valid x.  I've never actually used these, so someone should verify if I'm correct.

Edit: It looks like it automatically links an image once you submit the post.  Testing entering manually: (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/3/32/Coin3.png/16px-Coin3.png)

There should be an f.ds meme list on the wiki.

Well, he did call me an autist and implicitly threatened some people (EDIT: turns out that was just me as well now that I reread that thread, which might not have been such a great idea, considering how short life is) with actual physical violence.

Feel free to add it ;) There is a bit of a start, with Scout, Rrenaud's Law, Blue Dog, Marin and Bad Adviser, but Mine/Mint, Moat and a few others do deserve their places.

How is Scout a meme?

Memes are jokes, Scout is also a complete joke.

How is Scout a meme?

Because of how reliable draw it is.

Then why isn't Ranger a meme?

Then why isn't Ranger a meme?

Sophisticated players never buy Ranger for draw for they know it's main power is a plus buy.

I'm looking around at those amazing fanmade cards, and now I want to give homebrewing a go.

Back on topic, suddenly my thread turned into a meme discussion. XD

You had the maturity not to confuse disagreement with your position as a personal attack against you?
